Current and former CNN staffers are slamming reports that the network is trying to “sideline” anchor Jim Acosta in order to “appease” President-elect Donald Trump.
Former CNN reporter Oliver Darcy reported Thursday that CNN Worldwide Chairman and CEO Mark Thompson called Acosta and “delivered the veteran journalist a sudden and strange proposal: Move your show to midnight and anchor it until 2am ET.” Another source told him “They want to get rid of Acosta to throw a bone to Trump. Midnight is not a serious offer when his ratings are among the best on the network.”
Mediaite has confirmed the reporting. A person with knowledge of the situation says Acosta expressed concern about the timing of the move in his conversations with executives — coming just before Trump’s inauguration. Trump clashed frequently with Acosta since Trump’s first term as president, and even lost a court battle when his administration tried to ban Acosta from the White House briefing room.
Now as the host of CNN Newsroom With Jim Acosta, he anchors a dayside news program that routinely outperforms even some primetime shows in the ratings, and which is known for not pulling punches — especially with Trump and Republicans.
In interviews with multiple current CNN staffers and one who recently left the network, there is a near-unanimous belief that this is being done to appease Trump, and many feel the move is a “bad look” for the network — and likely to have a “chilling effect.”
One current CNN staffer told me a lot of people at CNN “were caught off guard by reports of this move and of course the timing.”

Acosta is a racist moron. An American hater.
Appeasing Trump bad. He does represent the entire US
He won the presidency but their voters don’t care
The viewers that have left kinda see reality
Maybe CNN should be more worried about being sued out of existence for the lies they peddle daily. They just lost another lawsuit, the penalty phase of which could get dicey for the beleaguered network.
CNN has other major issues to deal with, they were found liable in a legal case today and the jury awarded 5 million in compensatory damages
and are deliberating over punitive damages
Hell, make Acosta the face of CNN…2 shows per day including weekends…let the world see what he and CNN are really about…if they don’t know already…put those liberal narc idiots out there to be seen!💯💯💯
Revolting, are they?
“... his ratings are among the best on the network.”
Somebody needs to tell the kiddies at CNN that having among the best ratings on THAT network ain’t saying much. If the ship is sinking, standing in the riggings just means that you drown last.
Want to put an end to the obnoxious agendas by democrats?
Destroy the propaganda machines like CNN and MSNBC...as well as the resy.
The whole deck of cards would fall.
“Rest”
“ when his ratings are among the best on the network.”
Twice nothing is still nothing.
You don’t like it, resign in protest.
Whatever happens to Mr Acosta, please can we not see him in the WH press room, pestering the Press Secretary and Mr Trump.
I believe "best" is a relative term. I'm pretty sure every CNN show has a lower rating than the Joy of Painting with Bob Ross on the Pluto TV app.
Well, you CNN "Insiders" should live up to your reputations, show up at the office and settle it Man to Man, or Homo to Homo, or Tranny to Tranny, or Pedophile to Pedophile, or Addict to Addict, or Degenerate to Degenerate, as the case may be.
Be sure to bring sharp arguments.
Breaking.......
CNN was found to have defamed the Navy vet and lost the $1 Billion lawsuit. The jury is out to assess the punitive damages in the second phase of the trial
Good point, everyone associated with CNN is Revolting!
Dear cnn: go on strike to protest this.
The solution would be to appoint a rabid Trump supporter to be his co-host
