NEWS: The SEC has sued Elon Musk in federal court over an alleged securities violation, according to a court docket.

The SEC alleges Elon "committed securities fraud in 2022 by failing to disclose his ownership in Twitter and buying shares at “artificially low prices.”

This lawsuit will likely go nowhere with a new head of the SEC about to come in

And then the left will scream "Cronyism!" and Corruption!". Probably the entire purpose of this harassment case. Hopefully the constant attacks on SpaceX will also end.

I think “is suing” would be a more appropriate wording than “has sued.” “Has sued” is very past tense implying that they already won the lawsuit. It’s also a way to subtly imply that Musk did something wrong or that the suit has some merit. Maybe “has filed a lawsuit” would be more truthful.

This is like when my neighbors dog barks as I walk past, just because he’s supposed to, but doesn’t even get up.

Re: "11 days late"

Thanks for clarifying that.

I knew he bought more than 9% of the outstanding shares before he publicly disclosed his position, which was clearly against the law.

The price of his shares between 5%-9% would have definitely gone up if his position had been known by the sellers.

I always wondered how he got away with that.

Apparently he did not get away with it.

So fine him a million dollars, which is “walking around money” for Musk, and let him get back to helping Trump fix this country. Geez.

Re: "Fine him $1 million"

You are missing the point.

How much would Twitter share holders have increased the price of their stock if they knew Musk was buying more than 5%?

Answer - billions of dollars more!

Musk had predicted he would land in prison if Trump did not win. The Biden administration still looking for his pound of flesh.

The DNC via Gary Gensler is trying to prevent Musk from purchasing TikTok which has helped conservatives.

Tik Talk as it stands right now is about to be banned on January 19th unless some American purchases it.

Musk wants to buy it, and that’s why this lawsuit is happening.

considering this was done with intent to take control of the company, this is a material violation. he has smart lawyers and a 13d-g is not a complicated form, if he really did miss a hard deadline it was done knowingly.
