Victor Willis, the lead singer of the Village People, announced Monday that the band had accepted an invitation from President-elect Donald Trump's team to perform during several inauguration events, including at least one with Trump himself.
“We know this wont make some of you happy to hear however we believe that music is to be performed without regard to politics,” Willis wrote in a Facebook post. “Our song Y.M.C.A. is a global anthem that hopefully helps bring the country together after a tumultuous and divided campaign where our preferred candidate lost.”
One of the events the Village People will perform at is an Inaugural-Eve Ball hosted by Turning Point USA, a conservative activist group. Confirmed guests include Vice President-elect JD Vance, Donald Trump Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard, Trump's pick for director of national intelligence, according to the event website.

That will be fun!
Well, he’s made a lot of money since Trump started using it.
This is highly amusing.
I am not a fan of Village People. I dont hate them or anything. I just dont really like their music, despite it being one of those tunes you cant get out of your head. I also dont support the gay agenda. Not 100% sure thats their agenda but it sure comes off that way.
I have wondered what the attraction is on both sides, Trump to the YMCA tune, and Village People to a conservative party.
The Village People aren’t gay. They’re simply six guys who always like to sing about other men.
and young boys taking showers. They are definitely nOt gay
This time it’s the walker guy, the wheelchair guy, the cane guy and the hearing aid guy.
Taking a big step back — what confuses me is Why so many gay people think Trump is worse than Hitler. I don’t think Trump cares at all, one way or another, about gay people. He’s not hassling them. He’s not proposing any legislation against them. He’s not trying to make same-sex marriage illegal. It’s not “a thing”. He’s worried about the economy, immigration, foreign relations, lots of stuff. He’s leaving gays alone, as far as I can see, but they seem to be filled with a seething hatred of the man. He scares the crap out of them. I don’t know why.
i don’t think mr hitler would have liked the village peoples
Nowadays, regular gay guys seem rather old fashioned.
The internet would disagree:
No, the Village People were not all gay:
Victor Willis: The original lead singer and only straight member of the group. Willis co-wrote several of the group's hits, including "Y.M.C.A.", "Macho Man", "In the Navy", and "Go West". He has said that "Y.M.C.A." is not a gay anthem, and that anyone who suggests otherwise should "get their minds out of the gutter".
Alexander Briley: An African American who played the enlisted GI/Sailor.
Filipe Rose: A Native American who was out as gay. Randy Jones: Played the cowboy and was out as gay.
It takes a (new) Village - Philadelphia Gay News The Village People were an American disco group that was formed by French producers Jacques Morali and Henri Belolo. The group's name comes from Manhattan's Greenwich Village, which was known as a gay village at the time. The group's characters were meant to symbolize American masculinity and macho gay-fantasy personas.
“I have wondered what the attraction is on both sides, Trump to the YMCA tune, “
Having being going to wedding receptions and other large-scale parties over the last half-century, there are really only a very small number of songs that can be legitimately classified as guaranteed, sure-fire crowd pleasers that will get most everyone with a pulse dancing and singing along. YMCA is one of those songs. It’s really a very short list, IMO, probably less than 10 songs...
YMCA
Sweet Caroline (Neil Diamond)
Brown Eyed Girl (Van Morrison)
Don’t Stop Believin (Journey)
Livin on Prayer (Bon Jovi)
Dancing Queen (ABBA)
Celebration (Kool and the Gang)
Rock and Roll All Nite (KISS)
Seriously, that’s pretty much it...
It was a joke :-)
Are homosexuals upset?
Bengay guy?
lol
At our wedding (1998), I, as the bride, told the DJ that these songs were specifically forbidden: Electric Slide, Celebration, and Old Time Rock & Roll.
And somehow everyone survived. hahahaha
Good move. With those songs playing there might not be time for Funky Town, Achy Breaky Heart, Macarena, and We Built This City on Rock and Roll.
That is sad (exception for Brown Eyed Girl)
