Several reports have suggested that ousted Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad may have been poisoned in Moscow. According to these reports, he fell ill on Sunday afternoon. Assad has been under the protection of Russian President Vladimir Putin since fleeing Syria in December 2024.
A social media account, General SVR, operated by a former Russian spy, stated that Assad sought medical assistance after experiencing coughing and choking.
The account suggested that there was reason to believe that it was an assassination attempt.
On the social media account, it has been claimed that Bashar al-Assad called the security guards after he was experiencing severe coughing and choking.
The former spy posted, “There is every reason to believe that an assassination attempt was made on former #Syrian President #Bashar_al_Assad. In the afternoon on Sunday, Assad complained to security guards about indisposition and breathing problems and asked to call for medical help. Almost immediately after the request, he started coughing violently and began choking. Assad was given water and this helped to ease the attack a little, but his breathing still did not return to normal, and headache and abdominal pain were added. By the time the medics arrived, the condition of the former #Syria president was deteriorating.”

What possible use is Assad to Russia anymore? I certainly wouldn’t trust them for asylum.

There are other intelligence operatives and state-sponsored assassins operating in Russia that would enjoy currying favor with ISIS and islamist radicals, with the USA Biden administration that ordered Assad’s termination, or contractors working for powers willing to ensure Assad (elected 4 times) is never again an option for the Syrian people once they get a full belly of being part of an islamist/sharia caliphate run by terrorists in blazers. Why, Ukraine has offered its full support to Syria.
Pretty dumb to assume the Russians would bring him to Russia and kill him, if that even made sense.
Perhaps Biden can invite him to the US for medical care and then Syrian rebels can take American hostages in retaliation. We’ve seen this play bout before...

This move has gotten the American mafia written all over it.....not that they had anything to do with it but they’re notorious for doing very similar......if you’re no longer of use, you’d best consider yourself expendable because you know stuff.....Putin has no more use for this dude.....and I GUARANTEE he knows stuff.

Typically if you’re under the protection of Vlad, you tend to fall out of windows rather than get poisoned. They usually save poisoning for expats in foreign lands.

Not much, but it does send a message to other world leaders. Also, not a good look for Putin to do this as he’s been accused of many other similar crimes (rightly or wrongly) - crap, a few crimes like this and he’ll be looked at even worse than Biden by the rest of the world. So Putin has reason to keep him around. Also, he can pay his way there, as he’s a London-trained Medical Doctor.
Sounds like seasonal flu. I had the same symptoms 6 weeks back. 3 weeks later I am back to normal.

In Europe, England and Israel, the day comes before the month. Since I live in Israel but grew up in America, I must at all times use the Israeli format lest I fall back into a lifetime habit and start putting the month first on something important, such as a check.
