Researcher: ‘Angry’ Locals Want to Know Where Tax Dollars Went as Fires Destroy Los Angeles

Los Angeles residents angered by local officials’ response to the fires devastating their communities are now questioning how their tax dollars are being used, a researcher told Fox News.

Kristian Fors, a Los Angeles County resident and research fellow at the California-based Independent Institute, told the outlet on Sunday that Californians assume their leaders will fix problems that arise, Fox News reported.

“I think at its core level, we, the citizens of the United States and of Los Angeles, we expect certain provisions from our government. And when people see that our basic needs are not being met, they’re angry,” he continued:

I think the people of California — they’re willing to pay high taxes. They’re willing to support things that maybe they don’t necessarily agree with because there is a basic assumption that underlies it all, that our government is here to take care of us. But now in a situation like this, when there’s total mismanagement, when people are scared, when there’s 0% containment, people are asking themselves a question, what did all those tax dollars go for?

The death toll from the wildfires that are leaving the Los Angeles area in ashes rose to 16 on Sunday, according to Breitbart News.

In addition, “Some 150,000 people in Los Angeles County are now under evacuation orders with another 700-plus people taking refuge in nine shelters,” the article said.

CBS New York reported on Saturday there are four major fires burning in the Los Angeles area and more than 12,000 structures had been destroyed:

Anyone who thinks their tax dollars in Los Angeles are primarily used to help them needs serious counseling for mental illness.

Lobotomy may be the only known cure.

One of the places the taxpayers’ money went.

“Critics argue that LAFD had been too preoccupied with DEI vanity projects to properly staff and equip its firefighters — projects that Kristine Larson was paid $307 thousand a year to manage in 2023, according to salary database Transparent California.

“Los Angeles Fire Department Assistant Chief Kristine Larson says when people’s houses are burning down, they want a firefighter to show up who looks like them.”

Correct. THEY vote for this ineptitude and corruption again and again. Nothing will change going forward. Tens from now California will still be heavily Democrat.

After an interview on the fires, Trace Gallagher asked: “But do you think if Gavin Newsom and the local leaders ran again the voters would vote to re-elect them?”

Man said “Yes.”

“Californians assume their leaders will fix problems that arise…”

Where did they get that idea? I think most of what afflicts California is brought about by their leaders. Where have these people been the past few decades. Truly there are many who pay no attention at all… until they get punched in the face I guess.

...we were SUPPOSED to have had a militia instead of a politician led constabulary.

Because of the way the states were settled, we ended up with this soft police-state that America suffers under now.

How do we get back to there?

Mail in ballots ran $50 each in 2020. Inflation probably runs it up to $80 in 2024. That’s about $800 Million. California’s share of that is probably around $23 Million. Numbers are mighty close.

Government isn’t there to “take care of you”. Government is there to protect you from crime, fire, military, protect the border, and create infrastructure like transportation. They are not our nanny. Grow up, California. Take care of yourselves. If you are so stupid to think that you should vote for someone because of the color of their skin, and who they sleep with, this mess is all on you. I am really trying hard to be sympathetic, but the people who lived in these neighborhoods called us Nazis. Now they will try to force insurance companies who left California to pay for these losses. That will mean we will all be paying for California if that is the result. Insurance companies will go bankrupt or hike premiums to an unaffordable level.

I think everyone knows, on some level, that if you put dems in power, the bare minimum is for a 25% graft allowance.

A caper like this, is more likely in the 85% neighborhood.

Folks are cool with being ripped off, so long as they can feel that wonderful sense of false virtue - a bargain at twice the price!
