I have to admit that I’m a bit perplexed at the connection between the Los Angeles Mayors Office and the swearing in of a new President in a third World country.

Bass was in Congress for 20 years, where she was on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and Chair of the Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, and Global Human Rights.
So “Momma Africa” was a her schtick, her song-and-dance, her make-believe area of expertise. I remember Ted Kennedy fashioned himself as an “Irish expert” and often interjected himself into Northern Ireland politics and USA-UK-Irish relations. Similar thing.
For Bass, these connections may also allow for opportunities for influence-peddling and money-channelling. She’s in Ghana to keep up the connections and promote the ruse
LA constituents be damned.
Tokens aren’t expected to the job anyway.
