Nigel Farage says he wants to "mend fences" with Elon Musk, after the billionaire Trump adviser called for him to be replaced as Reform UK party leader.
Just before Christmas, Farage told journalists his party was in "negotiations" with Mr Musk, the world's richest man, about a potential donation.
But come the new year, the relationship had soured, with Tesla boss Mr Musk saying Farage "did not have what it takes" to lead the party.
Farage suggested the snub was over a disagreement about Mr Musk's support for the jailed far-right activist Tommy Robinson.
Speaking on LBC, Farage said he planned to repair his relationship with Mr Musk during an upcoming "four or five" day trip to the US for Donald Trump's inauguration as president on 20 January.
"Of course I want his support, of course I will talk to him in America in a few days' time, of course I want to mend any broken fences that might exist," he said.
"I have no desire to go to war with Elon Musk and I'm not going to, and I haven't done", he added. "I'm a huge admirer of him - I think he's an heroic figure."
He repeated his belief that losing Mr Musk's support would damage the party's chances with younger voters, because the tech entrepreneur was "a cult hero figure" and "he kind of makes us look cool".
However, Farage said he "would not be moved" over Mr Musk's call to free Tommy Robinson, real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, who was jailed in October last year for repeating false claims against a Syrian refugee.

He needs to come out hard against Tommy Robinson being locked up in solitary for 18 months for stating his opinion, well-based in facts that Pakistani rapists are lightly handled and protected by the British police and government.
If he doesn’t do that, his efforts to make bins with Elon is just political scheming and he is just another Bush style hack.
He should embrace Tommy Robinson and his crusade against Pakistani grooming gangs or he should shut up and get out of the way.

We have to remember that the same "judicial system" and UK Gaslight Media who are pushing this "false claims" Narrative about Tommy Robinson also couldn't see any rapey or groomey activity by UK rape gangs for decades.

The thing about Robinson defaming a Syrian refugee is all over the internet, but just like the press here, it is a leftist talking point that gets broadcast rather than explaining the truth or falsity of the matter asserted. Dunno about Robinson here, but the UK press is utterly useless, spewing whatever garbarge they are told to spew and investigating and explaining nothing. Tommy Robinson released a film which I watched. It documented true claims about a nasty little Syrian so and so. The government put him in jail for it.

Yep....but the real story has nothing to do with Jamal. It has everything to do with the false narrative the government and media pushed, while paying off people, under NDA’s, to shut up and go away...those that knew the truth about Jamal.
So a documentary that exposed this was banned, by a single judge, declared as ‘defamation’. How convenient. A judge can just cover up corruption by banning it under the umbrella of ‘defamation’.
All Tommy did was show the video, the truth, and is now in solitary for 18 months for a civil, not criminal, issue...with no jury having anything to do with it.
And Farage is ok with it, Elon isn’t. This isn’t some ‘slight disagreement’.
