President Joe Biden is being criticized for his 'tone deaf' response after an overnight tragedy left at least 10 dead and 30 others injured at a New Orleans New Year's Eve celebration.
Biden's first post on X in 2025 was a simple 'Happy New Year, folks' at 10am ET.
That comes just hours after an alleged attacker plowed into a joyous crowd on Bourbon Street around 3 a.m. local time on Wednesday.
Furious social media users immediately pointed out his 'heartless' blunder, calling it out of touch and insensitive to the victims and their families.
'Joe Biden is a heartless pos,' wrote one user. 'People lost their lives in a terror attack, and he just tweeted 'Happy New Year, Folks.' Jan 20th can't come fast enough.'
Another wrote in disbelief: 'This is President Joe Biden’s first post of the day. No mention of New Orleans or the victims. [Shaking my head].'
'It's utterly clumsy and tone deaf,' a third user chimed in.
The president had not directly addressed the deadly incident before making the celebratory New Year's post.
But approximately an hour after his New Year's post, Biden finally issued a formal statement condemning the 'act of terrorism' and sending condolences to the victims' families.
He then addressed reporters as he boarded a plane to Camp David on Wednesday, saying he'd have 'more to say' soon and that his first reaction was one of 'anger and frustration.'

Very true. His statements are written by someone else and then sent out by the White House communication office. His public appearances are highly scripted and any words that come out of his mouth are the results of his feeble attempts to read what someone else has written and put on the teleprompter.
The blame for insensitivity lies with his staff and whoever is giving his staff direction. These people are narcissists who have no empathy for the suffering of other people.
I am no longer outraged at Joe Biden. He is a vegetable and his very presence on the national and world state today is the worst kind of elder abuse of a man whose brain is almost completely scrambled.
My outrage today is for the handlers (Jill and the White House staff) who have deliberately deceived the public, the bureaucrats and aides who are fully engaged in the coverup, VP Harris and the cabinet who did not trigger the section 4 of the 25th Amendment, the national media for its complicity in the charade, and the RINO Republican “leaders” such as former president Bush, Mitt Romney, Mitch McConnell, most of the GOP Senate and House of Representatives who have been quick for years to condemn Donald Trump at every turn but have refused to call foul on the daily farce involving Joe Biden and his handlers. They should have insisted on Section 4 of the 25th Amendment being invoked during Biden’s first few months when it was obvious his mental acuity was declining rapidly.
I doubt Biden is posting anything on X, and probably has never done.
Some inept aide probably set it up to deliver in the morning and then didn’t abort.
Did anyone expect him to get it right?
Well, this morning with all the news of a “possible terrorist attack” the news said “The White House has been informed.”
I thought What a waste of time informing the White House with Mr Potato Head still in there.
