It’s currently 47 degrees F and sunny here in central coastal, NJ at 10:20 am Dec 31, 2024.
So we are not close to dying of the cold just yet.

NY is following CA closely with wanting to ban gas appliances. The death toll some winters will be enormous. Especially in northern NY. Somedays I wonder if it will take a massive green induced death toll before the people will revolt against these policies.

In the past several decades I’ve experienced business trips to Minnesota in January
where it was -40 degrees F. I did NOT like that AT ALL.
Cheap vinyl seats in the Pontiac rental car were frozen rock solid.
I do not intend to go back to Minnesota anytime soon.
I’d rather be in Phoenix when it’s 115.

You scoff at the weather now, but wait a few days
Joe Bastardi over at weatherbell.com is NOT an alarmist, but
he says he sees a weather pattern of cold coming that he hasn't seen since 2014.
Furthermore, that unlike most other previous brief weather patterns that are followed by a warm up period,
he's not seeing that at all - just bitter cold !

Unfortunately, if their weather prediction does come true it is going to hinder inauguration day. The weather was miserable when Trump was inaugurated in 2016 and now again. Let’s unite and pray for a beautiful sunny day miracle! 🙏🏻

I had a Now and Then item on Facebook today. The morning temperature at my house was -13F on Dec 31, 2015. This morning it is +22F in my backyard. Much warmer.

My youngest son lives in Shawnee, OK. There was a period of almost 10 days of subzero temps a few years back. The pipes in his house froze. The family was huddled in his van with the heat running because the house heater wasn't up to competing with the cold. The power outage didn't help either.
