There's a persistent truism out there that while Jimmy Carter was an execrable president, he was nevertheless a great ex-president.
It's balderdash.
He may have done some worthy deeds around the eradication of disease and the building of homes for the homeless.
But he was every bit as bad an ex-president as he was a sitting president.
It wasn't just his nasty, irritable personality, as described by newsman and AT contributor Peter Chowka here, and former U.S. diplomat Lewis Amselem from firsthand experience as bystanders in random events.
It was in his meddling political involvement abroad.
Amselem described in his long tweet-story how Carter paid a visit to Indonesia in 2004 and in his speech to the locals, launched into a series of verbal broadsides against U.S. foreign policy from the grounds of the U.S. embassy as the diplomats stared at each other, utterly stupefied.
He also became a self-styled election observer, supposedly in the name of promoting democracy, in which the dictator tended to win.
In Venezuela, his involvement with the Carter Center in 2004 certifying its likely fraud-filled recall referendum on Hugo Chavez served to seal Chavez's grip on power and create the Venezuelan hellhole we know today.
It was a mixture of arrogance and naivete.

Wow. The next paragraph is a doozy:
“It was a mixture of arrogance and naivete. Here’s the money-quote from the executive summary put out by the Carter Center certifying Venezuela’s 2004 referendum as free and fair:
In the end, many of the threatened restrictions on
the OAS and Carter Center observer missions did
not materialize, and the CNE granted both
organizations authorization for all of the observers
requested, complete freedom of movement on
election day, and access to all technical locations
of the process, with the exception of the central totalization room.”

He was a piece of shit. I was never fooled by the photo ops of him nailing in a few 2x4s. Jew-hating, tyrant-loving scum. “But he was a Christian!” Was he? Are Liberation Theologists “Christians?” I think not.
I think the reason (or at least one of them) that he was so angry was that he unconsciously knew he was a naive and hypocritical fool.
I watched him one night being interviewed by Jay Leno on the Tonight show. During the course of the conversation, Carter quoted James 2:14 - “Faith without works is dead” except he changed it by saying “Faith without works is good.”
He was paetrt of Virgin airlines’ SIR Richard Branson’s anti-Iraq war group “The Elders” as was Mandela.
I had completely forgotten about the relentlessly Hard Left, anti-USA, Carter Center.
In 1960, Cuba had the highest standard of living in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Castro and the Communist Party pretty much walked in the back door and just took over.
Castro and Chavez had the same mesmerizing dream shared by Mao, Lenin, and Hitler - taking over the government of an entire nation.

Well I certainly do not understand why Carter’s death merits shutting down the stock market. That is a bunch of monkey business.
It's like propaganda but practically and usefully applied in a very small dose.;-)
That has to have been one of the best reputation rejuvenators any American politician has pulled off successfully. The guy pretty much made everything he touched worse than it was, and in some cases, his legacy is little short of catastrophic.
That was his Jesus imitation.
Down South, we are familiar with holier-than-thou, goody 2-shoes guys like Carter.
He lacked humility about his faith.
Absolute truth.
I started participating in politics during Reagan’s first campaign, mostly with the intention of doing anything- ANYTHING- to get this dufus out of office.
The stories about his childish petulance and nastiness were fairly well known, but his incompetence was crystal clear to EVERYONE.
Referenced in this article, check out the link to Peter Chowka’s piece - the media was doing then for Carter what they’ve been doing for Biden (covering up true personality, creating a personna for public consumption).
Chowka has a link to a piece by Andrea Widberg that is also the harsh reality of Carter and the damage he did during & after his presidency.

>> ... while Jimmy Carter was an execrable president, he was nevertheless a great ex-president.
And he’s gonna make an even BETTER dead President! He will remain a faithful and true DemonRat voter... Rosalyn too...
Our governor in Virginia said to fly flags at half staff for 30 days. Hubs did so, but I’m not at all on board.
Carter does not deserve such an honor for opening Pandora’s Box, in fact, several of Pandora’s Boxes, all over the world.
Carter has the blood of millions on his hands. I do hope he saved his soul before it was too late.
I wonder if God is giving him an up close view of all the evil and terror he created.
(Of course, if wasn’t Jimmy, it would have been someone else, yes? No?)
I’d rather not fly the flag at all for 30 days than give a nod to this weak and stupid man.
Ditto that. Carter was an arrogant, ill tempered jerk who did great damage to this country. Great damage.
I watched him one night being interviewed by Jay Leno...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I tried to find that.... Leno did an interview of Carter on Feb 8, 1995 and it cuts off halfway through the interview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saCK6Zt1V6M
