On this week’s Fox News Sunday broadcast, Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) said that the H-1B program has left U.S. workers “behind.”
Schmitt said, “First of all, I think it is important to acknowledge this is an important debate to have, and it’s happening on X right now.”
He continued, “I think this is an important, thoughtful debate that’s happening, but the context that we need to, I think, keep in mind here is that the American workers have been left behind by this economy. Many factory jobs have been sent overseas. I think the abuses of the H-1B program have been evident, where you have sort of the sons and daughters of those factory workers lost their jobs, got white collar jobs as accountants and they are training their replacements, the foreign workers who are undercutting their wages. So I think the solution here, President Trump articulated in 2020, is to reform that system.”
Schmitt added, “So the first order business, I think, for the Trump administration is the deportations that are going to begin on day one, the executive orders that are coming. I do think President Trump has talked about reforming this system, the H-1B system. But the broader issue here is mass migration that has undercut jobs, wages and in increased housing costs.”

Cut H1b numbers back to 10% and totally get rid of student visas while you’re at it
If we shipped all H-1b workers back home to India tomorrow, all tech censorship and porn sites would stop in hours.
Also look at the foreign student visas that allow universities to bring in foreigners to be slave labor in their research labs, displacing Americans.
Impose a tariff/tax on H1Bs, equal to 30-40% of salaries. Make H1B no longer cheaper than hiring Americans.

Like every other government-created program in existence, there are abuses that go uncorrected and the people who do the abusing go unpunished. And usually, the original intention of the program is eventually bastardized, and never achieves what it was created for.
If all these Tech Bro Millionaires really care about the Indians they would look into whether Indians are being trafficked like Prostitutes.
How about it DOJ or FBI?
Just get rid of H1-B. It’s abused more often than used for its stated purpose.

Make it illegal to even appear to be replacing an American worker with an H-B1 person and illegal for American workers to train H-B1 replacement workers.
Make the fine for doing so far more than what an employer could possibly save over 30 years with an H-B1 worker.
The need to import workers with in demand skills that our bloated education system doesn't care care about is an internal problem that needs "radical" solutions. The demand is there but domestic supply falls far short, and compared with their Asian contemporaries American students are coddled and lazy. The fault of parents and the education establishment. Something similar to but far more extreme than the post-Sputnik panic response in the sciences is needed, a cultural and institutional revolution.
I was calling the PhD "elite" a priesthood (pissed off my academic adviser red in the face when I said I didn't want to join) when I was myself in college. It's far worse now with 90% plus of them out and out Communists with Iron Rice Bowl tenure.
