... From October 17 through October 29, 2024, during the fall-run Chinook salmon migration, the data suggest that more than six thousand fish have passed the former Iron Gate Dam site and migrating into the newly re-opened habitats. These fish were captured by our team’s SONAR camera which is installed at the former dam site.
How does SONAR work? The camera uses sound waves to generate movie-like imagery of passing fish on a continuous basis. Our team of scientists analyzes the camera’s recordings considering several factors including fish size and time of movement to discern that most of these are likely Chinook salmon or steelhead! This SONAR camera provided the first evidence of fish migrating into newly reopened habitat just days after dam removal construction wrapped up. When we break down the data from October 17 to October 29 a bit further, we estimate that between 221 and 588 fish migrated through each day and 98% of these fish were greater than 20 inches long! This data is preliminary and subject to change. ...

" the data suggest that "....
.. ..why suggest ?
..if it was a fact ?
. facts arent suggestions .. and suggestions arent facts, just mho.
and again.....
"we break down the data from October 17 to October 29 a bit further, we estimate "
they counted 12 days , in how many months ?
to come up with , an estimate ?
with all the high tech why not give us ALL the numbers , the whole count ?
why are they estimating at all ?
imho its cuz they are ecocommie weasels doing the weasel dance.
.
How many gigawatts of baseload power were sacrificed for a few fish?
more than six thousand fish have passed the former Iron Gate Dam site
I am not seeing a comparison?
Better get used to it. They are going to use this data to force further “rewilding” of large portions of the Pacific Northwest.
I wonder if there’s any habitat capable of supporting their redds. (nests). If they silt over, the eggs will die.
I think it sounds like good news.
¡Viva salmon!
Except, of course for a few guarded, gated mansions here and there, I'll bet.

Looks like you answered it yourself. There will be two distinct Chinook Salmon runs...spring and fall.
With the dams gone I believe the salmon will come back. My worries are over the loss of flood protections. I hope part of the effort to remove the dams was to also move existing residents out of the old/new flood zones. I believe the next big Pacific storm in that area will cause extensive damage to infrastructure and deaths if this was not done.

We are sorry, but the page you are looking for does not exist.
How much farmland was destroyed. I suppose we can eat kelp and flies.
there are huge ocean going fishing/packing factory ships off the west coast hoovering up the fish
so if there are more fish
the CCP will be getting them
the tribes got suckered
its a sad thing.
being of Cherokee decent im familiar with inter tribal bs.
sometimes the smart segment loses the struggle and ends up on , as my Choctaw ancestors called, the long walk.
and my Cherokee ancestors called the trail of tears.
Any irrigation canals supplied by those removed dams are kaput and any farms they serviced will. It be growing much food.

The average U.S. home uses 10,500 kWh per year. So, based on the reported power production for the dams, 686,000 MWh/year / 10,500 kWh/year = 65,000 homes lost power.
Note that the odd data above -- three of the four dams were producing at 100% capacity year-round. The real world has reduced water flows and maintenance outages, so nothing hits 100% year-round. I didn't look very hard to find the actual production from the dams.
Of course, if those 65,000 homes were all charging EVs, then we'd really have some serious power shortages. But the greeniacs know that EV power comes from magical unicorns, so no actual EV charging capability was lost.
I agree, the overfishing of the oceans will impact the potential recovery of the salmon runs.
Self serving gaslighting.
I hate to open wounds, but you might want a personal view of the effects of dam removal. Ask AuntB.
Loss of flood protection, loss of impounded water that the state could use, and cheated people who lived on the lake out of the value of their property. Left a scar of silt where the lakes were.
Green crap run wild.
You gotta break a few roe.
