From concept to command: Celebrating 5 years of the US Space Force
PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. (AFNS) -- The U.S. Space Force officially turns five years old Dec. 20th.
The sixth branch of the U.S armed forces was established on Dec. 20, 2019, when PRESIDENT DONALD J TRUMP signed the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020.
Under this act, Air Force Space Command, headquartered at then-Peterson Air Force Base, ceased space operations, was inactivated and the USSF assumed operational control of the space units previously commanded by AFSPC. From there, the Space Force moved forward with building and defining the new service while simultaneously maintaining legacy missions and infrastructure.
In the intervening years since its creation, the USSF has built a space-focused cadre, pulling together ideas and expertise from sister services and promoting the transfer of enlisted and officers experienced in space operations, cyber, intelligence, acquisition and engineering.

Have they done anything yet?
Not a criticism, just a question.

What sort of answer are you expecting?
Uh, have you noticed any “drone” activity in the night sky?

They seem to be very stoic, I have never heard one complain about the MREs or inadequate sleeping bags.
We need an Academy for the Space Cadets.
That sounds groovy.

SCHRIEVER SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. (AFNS) —
Space Training and Readiness Command officially stood up the Space Force’s first cyber range squadron, the 33rd Range Squadron (RGS), during an activation ceremony on Schriever Space Force Base, Dec. 16.
The new squadron, which falls under Space Delta 11, marks a critical milestone in advancing the Space Force’s ability to test, train, and prepare for cyber threats in the contested space domain.
Here we are five years later, still waiting.
We the taxpayers pay for this, but I guess we'll never know...
You mean the Gay(er) Air Force?
Anything, really. Just out of curiousity.
Any weapons development, defense development, new technology to get off the earth, policies in relation to any of that?
At some point they will probably be a valued service and we will see their value hopefully, but for years they are going to have to endure the jokes, even if their value was obvious right now, they would still have to endure years of jokes until the comedic weirdness and novelty wears off.
Yes, you will hear a great deal about what they did 40 years from yesterday.
I was always in the periphery helping other people do what they needed to get done.
Its been a long time. I saw that one of the things I was supporting is now declassified.
KH-9 (BYEMAN codename HEXAGON) commonly known as Big Bird or KeyHole-9
Its very strange to even type this now because this was such a big deal back then.
When you hear the story that Cankles was trading Talent Keyhole "TK" to the Chinese, it would be this kind of information from the follow up program to this one.
Its likely going to be a very long time before Space Force can tell anybody anything substantial.
Must be meaningful to the women working under them. I mean in support level jobs.
