President-elect Donald Trump said Monday he’d consider pardoning embattled New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
Trump was blunt when asked by a reporter during a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort if he’d come to Adams’ rescue with a presidential pardon.
“I would,” he said. “I think that he was treated pretty unfairly.” The declaration came as Adams battles for his political life and potential freedom against a historic bribery and corruption federal indictment, which he denies.
Many in Adams’ camp have seen another Trump presidency as a potential boon for his defense, either through a pardon or a sympathetic appointee to the Manhattan US Attorney’s Office, which is leading the case against the mayor. Trump has repeatedly expressed his belief that Adams is being railroaded by overzealous federal prosecutors – and he repeated it Monday.

I suspected this was why Adams became much more sympathetic to Trump’s positions over the last 6 months.
Yep, this is why Adams is going to be among the most cooperative of big-city Dem mayors with respect to deportations... “The Art of the Deal” strikes again. Divide and conquer.
You get investigated. And you get investigated. And everybody gets investigated, by a corrupt DOJ, because of your political point of view.
Treated unfairly? He had affirmative action help him up the ranks throughout his whole career.
I don’t know if Adams has been treated unfairly. Trump needs to get into office, then do a review of all of Garland’s prosecutions to see which ones have been political. Then shut down the ongoing ones that have been and pardon the people who were convicted in political prosecutions. But don’t start musing now about it off the cuff. Frankly, Trump needs to be better about keeping his mouth shut on things like this.
Except us fly-over folks (if we need one).
Seems like it. The moment Adams complained about illegal immigration in NYC, the Biden Administration went after him.
ASK ANY COP THAT WORKED WITH HIM WHAT A POS HE WAS!
Who understands NYC politics as well as DJT? Smart move.
I think it's pretty much a given that any high profile prosecution under Garland was political, or at least had political elements to them. That's not to say some weren't legitimate prosecutions (i.e. Sam Bankman-Fried), but even in those cases, I would wager that the cases were prosecuted largely in order for the left to control the narrative.
I do NOT see him giving a "pardon" without a damn good underlying reason. Time will tell!.
I'd heard that previously here on FR. If the RATS are trying to get rid of him, and replace him with another POS, let them. I think President Trump should stay out of it. Adams doesn''t deserve his sympathy.
The article is mistaken. Trump was assked if he would CONSIDER pardoning Adams...aftter a moment of hesitation. Trump said yes, and then the remaining unfairness thing.
Considering something doesn’t necessarily mean that he would decide to do it.
I imagine Trump has a great deal of empathy for people who are victims of lawfare. Maybe he knows more about the subject than most, especially when it comes to corruption in New York.
From what I understand, Adams is not in danger of federal prosecution. Therefore, a presidential pardon cannot help him. This is a city/state issue.
I think he’s telegraphing far too many intentions, prior to being POTUS, in office.
Trump could care less about Adams.
He’s just doing what the World’s Greatest Troll does.
Troll and trigger.
Adams started to speak out about all the illegals. That’s what made the democrats mad. They targeted him for that reason to bring him down. If not for him speaking out, they never would have gone after him.
That’s not saying I agree with a pardon.
“You get a pardon. And you get a pardon. And everybody gets a pardon.”
