Why does the US Government still operate as if the Great Depression, WW2 and the Cold War are still going on?

By all means let’s spring forward this year and stay there.

Health experts have said that lawmakers have it backward and that standard time should be made permanent. It shouldn’t matter. I would be fine if standard time was made permanent and each state had the option of moving one time zone to the east. This might be a good option because I’ve long believed that so much of the political pressure surrounding DST historically comes from the large population centers located in the easternmost parts of their respective time zones (Boston, NYC, Philadelphia, Chicago, St. Louis, etc.).

I don’t care one way or another.

Yes. Switch it off for good!

I do not care what they set it at but they need to stop this stupidity.
Just pick a time.

Simple compromise: Half hour time zones. It makes zero sense that the sun rises and sets more than an hour earlier in Boston than it does in Detroit, just to name two major cities.
People would fuss less about losing a HALF hour of extra daylight in the summer.
It would also make more sense to have Nashville and Knoxville a mere half hour apart rather than a full hour.

Good. I have always felt that DST is a crime against nature.

I thought it first came into practice to provide more daylight hours for farmers. That is long since obsolete.
I suspect the only people who want it now are those wanting to enjoy their cottages longer.

Standard Time is Real Time. So noticeable that when we switch to Standard Time, the kids here in NYS are going to school in daylight...and returning home in daylight.
Critters like cows get all messed up with the Time change.
Again...Standard Time is the way to go.

No...stay on Standard Time...that’s Real Time.

I like Daylight Savings Time. Without it there’s be bright sunlight shining into my bedroom at 3:30AM in June. I’d much rather have the extra sunlight in the evening.

Farmers have always lobbied against DST.

Simple compromise: Half hour time zones. Not arguing for or against such an idea, but I wonder how many pitfalls we would encounter trying to implement half hour time zones.

Critters get confused? What...do they forget to adjust their watches or something?
