JUST IN: Syria's capital city Damascus has fallen to rebels, and Syrian President Assad has reportedly fled to an unknown destination, per CNN.
“Militarily, Damascus has fallen,” CNN has said.
No Stalingrad in Damascus, against much speculation.

They are showing reports from around the city it appears no sign of a takeover by the jihadis yet.

Two or more times this story has been advanced to a point it has not reached as I see it.
The Jihadists will be in charge. Will Syria descend into chaos like Libya? Assad, the Russians, and Iran are out. Turkey will have a big say in how things will proceed from here. What will Israel do?
Not yet...but give them a couple of hours.
These jihadists are the followers of Bin Laden or worse willing to kill but their methods are more along the lines of ISIS as in ‘head chopping’.
American soldiers are on the ground in the east that is for sure.

Seems like the rebels in Damascus are a mix of Israeli backed Druze, US/Jordanian backed Sunnis, and the northern rebels that worked their way around Homs.
