In a surprising legal move, special counsel David Weiss filed a motion in the California federal court where Hunter Biden’s tax case is being conducted, calling on the judge not to dismiss the charges following President Joe Biden’s pardon that was announced on Sunday.
Biden’s pardon covers the period from Jan. 1, 2014 to Dec. 1, 2024. That time frame includes Hunter’s jury-trial convictions in June for lying on a federal form about his drug use when he purchased a handgun. It also covers his September conviction on nine charges related to his failure to pay at least $1.4 million in taxes from 2016 through 2019.
Hunter faced a maximum of 17 years in prison for his tax offenses.
“The charges in his cases came about only after several of my political opponents in Congress instigated them to attack me and oppose my election,” Biden claimed in a statement accompanying his pardon announcement.
In a Monday court filing in a federal district court in California, Weiss wrote, “There was none and never has been any evidence of vindictive or selective prosecution in this case.”
“The defendant [Hunter Biden] made similar baseless accusations in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. Those claims were also rejected,” he added.
“In total, eleven different [federal] judges appointed by six different presidents, including his father, considered and rejected the defendant’s claims, including his claims for selective and vindictive prosecution.”

the plot clots
This will be funny, if true.
Do pardons cover something you get charged for AFTER the pardon?
Like if something new is discovered in a 2019 hunter business deal, does that mean he can’t be charged?
Merrick is scared excrementless and is trying to pretend he isn’t a criminal.
One has to understand the Democrat Mindset.
Their PRIME OBJECTIVE is to jail as many high-ranking Republicans as possible - that started with Nixon and has hit every Republican Administration since. If that objectives means some of their own, with Hunter being an example, also needs to be jailed, then so be it.
However, this blanket pardon of Hunter COMPLETELY obliterated the DNC Prime Objective, by giving Trump a free-hand to simply pardon anyone on our side who also claims selective prosecution, and that is the cause for the abject panic on by the Democrats.
Also noted by many here was the fact that, due to the pardon, Hunter can compelled to testify on anything and he might very well have some juicy info on other Democrats - something the Biden Klan may have not considered.
The question, at this point, is whether the Pardon has been officially submitted (i.e., finalized), as it’s hard to see how it can be negated, if properly finalized.
Yes, although he is vulnerable to crimes committed after today, such as perjury when he is called to answer questions before Congress. He is no longer subject to the Fifth Amendment due to his immunity. He can also be jailed for contempt if he does not answer or show up for a subpoena.
It is nice to see you back here Paison.
Yes.
It can’t be negated, I think all they are saying is that the pardon doesn’t negate the fact that charges were ever filed, which I don’t understand because that seems obvious.
Biden’s a usurper; therefore all “pardons” are illegitimate.
Its already promulgated from the Whitehouse.
So I think its finalized enough.
Does Hunter get to keep the tax money?
Thanks man :)
Hope all is well with you and yours.
It’s rare that ALL is well in any given family but I hope yours is as close as can be!
That’s incredible. I didn’t know pardons had that power.
But now if pop ever is brought to court, hunter can’t lie about anything.
I know. It will never happen.
Maybe he’ll be called to testify in an Eastern European organized crime case and have to sell them up the river.
One can dream :)
President Trump should invite Navy and Lunden to President Trump's own inauguration. Seat them front and center, and put them up in a nice hotel.
Hunter does not get to keep the tax money.
He still owes it.
However stealing it was not a crime—any more.
Lol.
Question:
If it is found that Hunter Biden shot and killed someone during the time period of the proposed pardon, does he get off Scott free?
No, the pardon only (only!) applies to the period from January 1, 2014 to December 1, 2024.
