Israel Forces Iranian Plane, Loaded with Hezbollah Arms, to Turn Around

The Israeli Air Force (IAF) forced an Iranian cargo plane full of weapons for Hezbollah to turn around mid-flight on Sunday after intercepting it in Syrian airspace, according to media reports.

The Times of Israel reported:

An Iranian flight suspected to be ferrying arms to the Hezbollah terror group in Lebanon was blocked by the Israeli Air Force over Syria overnight between Saturday and Sunday, The Times of Israel has learned.

IAF fighter jets intercepted the Iranian plane over Syria and ordered it to turn around, and it did a short while later, a defense source said.

The interception of the flight came as part of Israel’s efforts to prevent Iranian weapons from reaching the Lebanese terror group, during a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.

A ceasefire approved by Lebanon and by the Israeli government went into effect on Wednesday morning. Under the terms of the agreement, Hezbollah is to leave the border area and withdraw north of the Litani River.

Should have shot it down and tell Iran all other incoming flights with weapons will crash into Damascus as if they don’t have enough problems as it is now.

I suspect that this time was a friendly reminder to Iran. The next time(s) may not be so friendly.

Good that they did. But I seem to not remember them ever interdicting the supplies we sent from Libya to Isis during Timber Sycamore. Funny how that works.

**Should have forced it down, given the crew fifteen minutes then had some fun-a friendly reminder to Iran. The next time may not be so friendly.**

The fun would be making porn flicks with the crew and posting them on the internet. I’m talking gay sex with bearded uglies. Pilots will start turning in their licenses. At least they’ll come out of it alive.

True. Don't forget it was over Syrian airspace. So probably a good idea to play nice. Even though Syria is routinely allowing Iran to supply Hezbollah in Lebanon. I wouldn't be surprised it, for that reason, Israel is hoping the Syrian rebels get Asaad out of office.

You expected Israel to intercept Turkish and Qatar planes authorized by Barack Hussein Obama being sent to Syria?

Shoot it down once and be done. Chase it away once, and have it, and dozens of others to contend with indefinitely.

Probably full of infantry weapons for newly raised Lebanese Hezbollah reinforcements for Syria. The last lot seems to have gone home willy-nilly, and now Iran needs new cannon fodder.

Interesting that Iraqi Shiite militias in Iranian service are entering Syria. I wonder how well they will do. They weren’t so hot vs ISIS.

Everything that goes on over there is connected.

How much of an army does Hezbollah have left after their pagers blew all their nuts off

Hezbollah had something like 50,000 men in Syria, IIRC, and many more in Lebanon. The pagers gambit just got some of the leaders.

IDF should have just downed it as an object lesson for Iran, Syria, Lebanon, and all the terrorists there. Weapons transport is not a protected act for anyone.

They never interdict, bomb, or harass our ISIS/FSA/Al Nusra etc. Israel only attacks the Syrian Army being attacked by the “rebels”.

Why would you post a story about a story instead of posting the story itself?

Breitbart was leeching off a story published here:
www.timesofisrael.com/Fisraeli-jets-block-iranian-plane-suspected-of-ferrying-arms-to-hezbollah-over-syria/

It's even linked to in their article.
