We can rage about Donald Trump. Or we can be curious about why he appealed to so many

How can anyone vote for someone so… fill in the blank… racist, sexist, unconstitutional, hateful, unhinged? This is the question asked frequently in the UK and here in the States, where I have spent the past three weeks trying to understand the Trump phenomenon.

Behind the question is an implied superiority; that we, the clever people, have identified the monster that is Donald Trump, but the deluded masses are too stupid to see it. But what I have found at the Trump rallies I’ve been to is not stupidity, but frustration, pain and a longing for respect.

Tucker Carlson at Madison Square Garden captured this sentiment with his usual swagger. “They tell you, the people who can actually change a flat tyre, who pay your taxes and work 40 hours a week, that you are somehow immoral. We have a message for them: you are not better than us, you are not smarter than us.”

A glimpse of sanity from the homo-left. It happens by accident sometimes.

A portion of the appeal has to be based upon the opponent. jmo

They tell you, the people who can actually change a flat tyre...

The smugness shines through.
He is "quoting" an American and an American would never use the British spelling of a word if the quote were written down.

The people who read for a living are often the people who believe all they read. They are blue pilled. They don’t see the systemic issues that are harming their country and culture.

When my toilets backed up in my house, they diagnosed that my sewer pipe running out to the street had collapsed. To get to the problem they had to go through the yard and sidewalk. Out came the backhoe and out came the jack hammer. Trump is heavy equipment. He is able to break through. I would not have a need for a jack hammer in the kitchen or my office. But there are jobs when only heavy equipment will do. And when the security apparatus in your government has taken control of the total government and most of the free wold, its time for the heavy equipment. France England and the US are run by minority governments. Its time the people are in charge again. And to do that we need Trump and his picks.

“We can rage about Donald Trump. Or we can be curious about why he appealed to so many”

Their rage is the explanation for the appeal. That is beyond their ken.

As much as this guy is trying, he still falls into the Leftist tropes about Trump supporters. When being charitable, they spin Trump support as "frustration" or "pain" or "being forgotten." As if a bunch of broken, marginalized people voted for Trump. That is part of it but its only part. What Leftist don't want to say is that a number of mainstream, rational people who are raising families and doing relatively well are supporting Trump because generally speaking, Trump represents the type of America that we want more than the lunatic Democrats. And that the Democrats, in a very fundamental sense (not just a couple policies),are completely out of step with America.

NY loved him for years. The Apprentice confirmed.

Melania warned him what would happen if he ran for the Presidency; ‘You will win and they will love you.” She knew him and the force he was.

That love put Donald in the WH where his ascendency was temporarily stalled by deep state. But it continues now with blue states turning purple, soon to be red and a nearly unprecedented 2nd term in the White House

Many are beginning to realize what a remarkable figure he is as he wins over the rest of the doubters....including me. I’m in awe.

When all is done he’ll be Rushmore worthy.

Bingo. I pray that they remain so self-unaware. It plays to our advantage.

We can spend the coming months in fruitless intellectual contortions about whether he meets the criteria for being a fascist, or we can properly understand what has just happened and get to work deepening, widening and improving a new progressive agenda with the vim and vitality to mount a serious fightback.

************************************************************

Pete misses the point in the above sentence. There are “sane” progressives (i.e. Liberals) and “insane” progrssives (also Liberals). The insane progressives don’t intend to give an inch to the “sane” progressives THUS “vim” and “vitality” and return to POWER ain’t gonna happen” anytime soon.

Earth to the Guardian: The reason that Trump has appeal is that he is correct and your lot, as usual, is not.

He’s trying to be clever. He’s analyzing why Trump won and sees it pretty clearly. But he seems to hate what he sees. All these things that people need whom he defines as the uneducated and scared working class, then dismisses them all as being wrong. ????? Then he tries to figure out how to pretend to care about the things he’s just dismissed as the wrong philosophies. And doesn’t recognize what a bigoted idiot he makes himself appear. Manipulative and above it all. Yuck!

From the article: “Trump won because he was the better candidate with a better message. I believe both his policies and approach will not in the end work, and will probably do a lot of damage on the way. “

Did the author fail to notice it worked during his 1st presidency?

Now we believe it’ll be Trump on steroids bypassing the deep state, RINOs and never Trumpers.

He appealed to so many (mostly the middle class and working class) because:

Gas was $1.99 a gallon when he was in office

Milk was $1.99 a gallon when he was in office

Russia wasn’t invading her weaker neighbors when he was in office

Our southern border was sealed tight when he was in office

Violent crime was much lower when he was in office

North Korea wasn’t firing missiles toward Guam when he was in office

Black unemployment was at historically low levels when he was in office

Cocaine wasn’t being found in the White House when he was in office

Nobody saw him referred to as “The Big Guy” when he was in office

It’s not really about Trump.

The status quo is INTOLERABLE for common folk outside the coastal elite bubbles in America and outside of the elites of southern Merry Olde England.

Trump represents a REPRIEVE from this INTOLERABLE status quo.

Ironically the UK soundly voted against the status quo when they voted Boris Johnson in.

But Boris was just using Brexit for his own political ambition.

The One Nation “conservatives” threw him to the curb for the biggest piece of globalist scum on Planet Earth, Runi Sunak.

The UK again voted against the status quo of the toxic mix of neocon warmongers and one world globalism but it made the diabolical choice of putting in a full blown Marxist Party in order to vote against it.

Had Brits only seen that ole Nige was the closet thing to Trump that they will ever have the opportunity to vote for.

As a sixth generation Anglo-American, I can say I’m glad my kinfolk got out while the going was good.

Newt Gingrich recently spoke of Trump in an interview in a way that I had never heard before. He spoke of Trump as almost a legend in a classical sort of way, almost like a Greek god or epic character. He supported his points in a way that couldn't be argued against: Two actual assassination attempts, one bullet nicking him. Massive lawfare waged for years against him. Hundreds of millions of dollars assess and confiscated from him. And yet, Trump seemed to feed on all of this to make him STRONGER. Stronger even in the eyes of his enemies.

I think of Jeremiah Johnson's standing with the Indians who were trying to kill him.

Qualen: [to Jeremiah, about the pile of trophies left by the Crow outide the cabin] Some say you're dead on account of this. Some say you never will be... on account of this.

“They” can rage. “They” can be curious.

“They” will NEVER be “we.”
