Just in Aleppo, there are dozens of churches and many thousands of Christians. Assad supporters have sometimes harassed them, but Assad himself has been supportive. They are now in mortal danger.
Wouldn’t Assad be better than unknown probable more devout Muslims?

AMMAN, Nov 30 (Reuters) - The Syrian army said on Saturday dozens of its soldiers had been killed in a major attack by rebels who swept into the city of Aleppo, forcing the army to redeploy in the biggest challenge to President Bashar al-Assad in years.
The surprise attack, led by the Islamist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, was the boldest rebel assault for years in a civil war where frontlines had largely been frozen since 2020.
Ric Grenell is openly saying that Moscow is allowing a coup against Assad, who is reported sheltering in Russia with his family. Seems like more than typical X rumor-mongering.
Sort of like when we took out Saddam Hussain and Qaddafi, both bad people but the result of taking them out was even worse.
If we have a hand in taking out Assad, the end result will probably be a Islamic Fundamentalist, bent on implementing a caliphate.
The ultimate would be those wanting to see Putin taken out, if that happens it’s likely his replacement will be far worse.
