Through the first 24 hours of the winter weather event, Girard, Pennsylvania, reported 25.7 inches of snowfall, while Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, recorded 23 inches.

ERIE, Pa. – The first bands of a significant lake-effect snow event began on Thanksgiving, and by the time the event subsides, communities around several of the Great Lakes will be measuring snowfall in feet, making travel impossible on some roadways.

The first issues were reported on Friday along the Interstate 90 corridor, east of Cleveland, where FOX Weather Exclusive Storm Tracker Brandon Copic observed vehicles becoming stuck and visibility severely reduced.

Near-whiteout conditions were also reported near the New York-Pennsylvania state line as holiday shoppers ventured out in search of deals.

In response, New York authorities closed parts of Interstate 90 between Buffalo and the state line as heavy snowfall overwhelmed snowplow crews.......

Snowfall accumulation map as of Friday evening.

Pretty standard stuff for early winter in the upper midwest - Great Lakes are still “warm” and strong cold-air fronts moving over them will pick up a lot of moisture.

I remember snows like that in the 1970s. Used as proof we were entering THE COMING ICE AGE!

Gosh! Has Lake-effect snow ever occurred before along the Great Lakes? Will the people there know what to do?

All weather either cold or hot has been declared *PROOF* of climate change now, didn’t you get the memo?

The global warming hucksters got tired of being embarrassed by unusually cold conditions and decided to adjust the name.

‘Climate Change’ is the greatest scam since the Aztecs ruled with terror by “saving” the sun every day with the blood sacrifice of their deplorables.

I’m surprised they didn’t have Watertown, New York on their map:
“According to NOAA records, the most snow that Watertown, New York has ever received in a single day is 45.0 inches which occurred on Thursday November 15, 1900.”
