Merrick Garland’s legacy facing 'enormous' implications as Trump cases implode: analysts

Attorney General Merrick Garland’s mark on the Justice Department could come down to one case – Donald Trump’s election subversion prosecution that collapsed today under the weight of a long-standing DOJ policy against hauling a sitting president into criminal court.

The development will likely hurt Garland’s legacy, according to two political analysts who concluded on Monday that the attorney general’s failure to timely appoint special counsel Jack Smith to investigate Trump’s criminal matter wound up sullying the prosecution.

“I also think we need to take a look at how long it took Merrick Garland to appoint Jack Smith,” said CNN political analyst Ana Navarro. “It took him, what, almost two years to get this done. But for that, it could have been a very different result today.”

The remarks came Monday on CNN’s “AC360” during a discussion about the prospect of Trump weaponizing the federal government to seek retribution and revenge from his political detractors once he reemerges in the White House in January.

Legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin echoed Navarro’s view while offering his perspective on how Garland will be remembered when he vacates his position as the country's top law enforcer.

“This case could have gone to trial,” Toobin said. “If this case had been brought promptly, the delay in naming Jack Smith at all and in the whole investigation at the higher level, is something that, you know, is going to be an important legacy of this administration."

Toobin noted that had prosecutors successfully secured a conviction against Trump in the Jan. 6 case, or the Mar-a-Lago classified documents action, he would have been facing “very long prison terms.”

“The magnitude of Trump's victory here is so enormous,” Toobin told

There is a long list of utterly despicable and detestable people from the Biden years who can be name The Worst Of Them All….Biden, Harris, Fauci, to name a few.

But Garland may be the Grand Prize winner.

Garland transitioned to Mary Garland, a vindictive 12-year old girl who’s weaponized her tantrum at not being on SCOTUS.

Mary will not rest until everyone who she blames for her non-coronation feels her pain or worse.

Anyone who ever sees Garland in person, rather than protest, should shake her hand, look into her cold, dark eyes (black eyes…like a dolls eyes), smile, and say “you STILL aren’t on the Supreme Court….HAHAHAHAHA!”

“attorney general’s failure to timely appoint special counsel Jack Smith to investigate Trump’s criminal matter wound up sullying the prosecution”

They left out the key fact that Garland had no authority to appoint special counsel.

Alvin Bragg is still trying to hold on to his case with Judge Mechan, right?

THEY delayed the case purposely to go to trial early in the campaign for maximum damage before Rs chose Trump.

Trump’s lawyers outsmarted them with delays, which Garland stupidly did not foresee.

And then, Trump turned “bad PR” into highly effective campaign events.

These analysts are assuming that Garland actually had a case and that he truly wanted it to be prosecuted. The case was lost when a majority of Americans recognized it for what it was, lawfare. Garland’s prosecution(s) of Trump were political dirty tricks, part two, after Russia, Russia, Russia in term one.

It amazes me that their take-away is Garland should have acted faster instead of reflecting on the underlying problems with the cases. The mind of a socialist is programmed to follow commands and never question what they are told. Creepy.

His legacy will be setting precedent for Trump appointing Gaetz as a special prosecutor responsible to no one and then going after the corrupt deep state.

Bragg is asking to be prosecuted. Jack Smith is trying to say “I’m sorry”.

Garland is a worthless turd. No, that’s a lying, worthless turd. Wait, that’s a morally bereft, lying worthless turd.
Oh heck, I’ll shorten things...he’s a Biden Democrat.

I knew early on Garland was filth, but this article sealed the deal.

https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3936918/posts

Senator Josh Hawley asked Garland his thoughts on “assaults on federal property in places other than Washington, DC, Portland, for instance, Seattle.” Garland said, in essence, that while the attack on the Capitol was domestic terrorism, the attacks on federal buildings over the summer likely were not.

“Do you regard assaults on federal courthouses or other federal property as acts of domestic extremism, domestic terrorism?”

“Well Senator, my own definition, which is about the same as the statutory definition, is the use of violence or threats of violence in an attempt to disrupt democratic processes. So an attack on a courthouse while in operation, trying to prevent judges from actually deciding cases, that plainly is domestic extremism, domestic terrorism.

“An attack simply on a government property, at night, or any other kind of circumstances is a clear crime and a serious one and should be punished. I don’t know enough about the facts of the example you’re talking about, but that’s where I draw the line.

“Both are criminal, but one is a core attack on our Democratic institutions,” Garland said.

He can always fall back on sending FBI SWAT teams on early-morning raids after pro-life activists who get cleared in court after minimal jury deliberation.
