A nuclear exchange was waay down the list of my prep requirements.
But minus a (relative) direct hit, preps are still valid.

When I was in grade school in the 1960s, all we had to do to survive a nuclear attack was crouch underneath our desks.

This nuclear war with Russia has one big winner.China.

For all those on FR who are pining for a nuclear war... Get your head out of your *ss and figure this out... There is no surviving, and if you do happen to find yourself alive after the initial strike... Then prepare yourself for a very torturous end to your sad, sorry and short existence.

FEMA can’t help people locally when it gets windy. Can you imagine how those fools would run around like chickens with their heads cut off during an actual disaster? If the U.S. ever gets nuked, we are on our own. Mad Max here we come- people walking around half naked looking for a gallon of gas

I think that Russia has just demonstated that they have IRBMs, with MIRV capability that are extremely accurate and very powerful. Some people (on the fringe, I suppose) are saying that what Russia has shown us is basically Rods from God. Which is to say — Russia doesn’t need to go nuclear. Russia has non-nuclear capability that we cannot match and which we cannot stop.
If this whole thing does go nuclear, it will be because the USA pushes that button first. We will start it. Over Ukraine???

Back in the early 80s I picked up a “please share” booklet at the federal building in Cincinnati. “Protection in the Nuclear Age” is a very informative how to book. Do you have kids or grandkids? Still time to order and receive your iodine tablets.
I built my house in 1993. I gave a lot thought to a home shelter but thought the Cold War was over. Silly me.

Yep. I’m sick of FR allowing these ruskie, chink and zeeper trolls. It’s embarrassing. This place is becoming a parody of itself.

I’ve seen tests showing that radiated EMP worry is overblown. Even sensitive devices like phones and laptops work after being powered back up. But the conductive EMP tests showed that most things plugged in get fried (or at least the power supply for that device/appliance gets fried).
