Britain ‘Directly Involved’ in Ukraine War After Long-Range Missile Strikes, Says Russian Ambassador
Breitbart ^ | 11/23/2024 | Kurt Zindulka

Moscow’s ambassador to Britain asserted that the United Kingdom is now “directly involved” in the war in Ukraine after Kyiv used British-made Storm Shadow long-range missiles to strike targets inside Russia.

In the wake of outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden’s reported decision to allow Ukraine to use American long-range ballistic missiles to attack the Russian interior, London was seemingly quick to follow suit, with reports this week that Kyiv used UK-made Storm Shadows to hit targets in the Kursk region of Russia, where Ukrainian forces waged a surprise counter-invasion over the summer.

Don’t worry, Zeepers have said Russia is weak and Putin would never attack a NATO nation.

Hope the Brits aren’t expecting us to pull their chestnuts out of the fire again.

Does that mean that Russia is involved with the war in Israel and Iran because they supplied arms to the Iranians?

Trafalgar Square would make a great target for poking the bear too many times.

If Israel declared it to be so. Think back to the Lend Lease Act. Germany saw it as a cause for war.

Israel can see quite clearly - via Russia’s numerous actions - that Russia helps Israel’s enemies

So, Russia is an enemy of Israel too

It's lovely to see you having it both ways, but....

Biden Keeps the Billions Flowing to Iran Wall Street Journal, 10 November 2023.

By backing arrest of Netanyahu, Trudeau aligns with Iran National Post, 23 November 2024.

Enemies of Israel? Seems the Biden and Trudeau governments also fit your definition.

The Breitbart article seems incomplete, for it does not report a confirmation OR denial on the part of the Starmer government. Defecate or get off the pot, the adage sanitized a but for this thread....

It is quite fascinating to watch such a statement by Russia being 1) denied by a Biden State Department spokeshole who said "we" aren't at war with Russia, and 2) no Starmer spokeshole saying anything much as yet.

Tick tock.

I would never say that Russia is "weak" or that they would never attack a NATO country. In fact, as a rule of thumb, I would say one should never attribute weakness to a nation that has exploded the largest nuclear weapon in history.

I do believe that, given Russia's history, they are understandably defensively minded, and that, as George Washington himself alluded, sometimes the best defense is a good offense.

I have much preferred living under America's freedom to any sort of authoritarianism, however recent history has caused me to seriously wonder if the US model is itself inherently unstable.

It’s kind of bizarre that the Russians are outraged that the British are giving weapons to Ukraine to attack Russia when Russia is importing actual North Korean troops to fight in Ukraine.

---- "Bragging how strong they— aren't in the process. Hey UK-you are NOTHING without the US and our stronger allies than YOU."

"As of 2024, the British Armed Forces have approximately 138,120 active personnel, with the British Army comprising 75,320 of that total. The Royal Air Force has about 30,800 personnel, while the Royal Navy has around 32,000."

The number of actual combat troops under arms is only a percentage of that number. The "tooth-to-nail" ratio is likely close to 1:8, so the number of British combat troops is perhaps 17,000 or so. Ergo, "strong" is and interesting assessment, isn't it?

But one supposes we should have more respect for the land of Queen Camilla the Commoner. / much < s a r c >

It us not inherently unstable, but as one of the Founding Fathers observed, it is made for a moral people, and is unsuited to any other.

The Communists noted that weakness and drove a truck through it.

That will be irrelevant. Any hot war between Britian and Russia is going to see nukes flying and then everybody dies.

What do you think Russia can actually do against Britain when it is struggling against Ukraine which has only a handful of combat aircraft?

Forget the comparative sizes of the Army, Britain is an island so the only forces that are relevant are the Air force and the navy. Russia can’t cope with projecting power over Ukraine’s tiny airforce of outdated Soviet Jets, despite sharing an actual land border never mind project power thousands of miles away against the RAF, it has no working aircraft carrier and every major combat vessel in the Russian navy is old Soviet junk falling to pieces with poorly trained demoralised crewmen.

And everyone keeps forgetting that Britain is also a nuclear armed power, so if Russia followed through with their fantasy of nuking Britain off the face of the Earth they could kiss goodbye to Moscow and every other major Russian city with a population exceeding 5 figures, along with every significant military base and port.

Putin knows this, and that’s why he will as usual, do nothing but puff and blow.
