House Speaker Mike Johnson has ruled the first transgender member of Congress cannot use the women's restrooms in a decision that will shake the U.S. Capitol.
Newly elected Sarah McBride, who will become the first openly transgender lawmaker when sworn into office in January, will have to use the men's facilities.
It follows a week of outrage from outspoken Republicans Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., and Nancy Mace, R-S.C., who have called McBride a 'man', a predator and accused her of being 'mentally ill.'
Republicans were emboldened by Donald Trump's win in the presidential election.
Trump has pledged to stop taxpayer funding for sex change treatments, block transgender people from entering the military, and ban trans athletes from women's sports.
Data shows the number of adults who identify as transgender in the U.S. is between 0.5 percent and 1.6 percent.
Mace had introduced a bill to ban transgender women from using female restrooms on Capitol Hill.
Johnson, the GOP leader, finally weighed in on the controversy in a statement Wednesday saying McBride would have to use the restroom of her biological sex.
'All single-sex facilities in the Capitol and House Office Buildings — such as restrooms, changing rooms, and locker rooms — are reserved for individuals of that biological sex,' Johnson said in his statement.
'It is important to note that each Member office has its own private restroom, and unisex restrooms are available throughout the Capitol,' he went on. 'Women deserve women’s only spaces.'

I work for a federal agency, USPS, and
rest rooms are either men or women. I
haven’t heard of any trans employees
demanding to use the rest room of
their adopted genders.
I also have been in public places
like hospitals where there are just the rooms of the
two genders and supposedly no such
controversies.
I have also attended a convention at
a hotel with unisex rest rooms. Only
stalls, no urinals...didn’t have a prob
(as a man) using it but still am
uncomfortable with the concept. Let
men and women have their own
separate rooms—and use the gender you
got at birth, please!

If you know sure enough that all women are sexual assault victims because all men are rapists waiting to happen, and you want to force girls and women to share locker rooms and restrooms with men who can get in there just by pretending to be women ... you might be a Democrat.
Nip it in the bud, so to speak.
That and Mace said she’s a rape victim. The drive-by media doesn’t want that part of the story coming to light. So the attention is put onto MTG.

I wonder how many Democrat women in congress would be willing to share an open stall restroom with that man while doing their business? I’m sure San Fran Nan has her own private privy so that she doesn’t have to share with anyone.
Thank goodness our hero rep women are taking a stand on this. If I were a Democrat I would NOT choose this issue to die on...
