att Gaetz is the closest America can get to having Donald Trump himself as attorney general. Like Trump, the Florida congressman is a reformer who doesn’t conform to reassuring myths about the character a reformer should have. Those myths have an enduring hold on the legacy media, especially, but voters rejected them in 2016—and again this year.
There are two ways to look at the corruption that is rife in 21st-century American life. One view is that reform demands a saint to reproach the wicked. While we await a political hero with the character of a second George Washington, we must make do with morality-reinforcing illusions, according to which our most powerful institutions—the federal government, the media, the medical establishment—are also good institutions, while wickedness is a characteristic of lone individuals, especially of those who challenge the norms of our institutions.
The second view is that if we must await an immaculate reformer, reform will never come. So we ought to support even obviously flawed individuals when they take on the necessary work of confronting systemic evils. Those systemic evils aren’t impersonal, of course—they are the product of people who insist that they are upholding what is good even while they do what is bad. The merely human, rather than angelic, reformer has a doubly difficult task: In addition to being assailed for his mortal failings, he is charged with attacking the very decency of our institutions. Hence, the campaign against Trump branded him as a threat to democracy itself, as well as a convicted felon.

When this country was founded, during the revolutionary war, and when our system of government was established, those men around George Washington that helped him during their war, a part of his inner circle, and his cabinet - those men were not saints. Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr come to mind.
The only man of immaculate character that existed in history was nailed to a cross. Another way to put it is to quote Admiral King after Pearl Harbor - when the s##t hits the fan, that's when they call for the sons of b***hes. Well - the s**t has hit the fan.
Saw Karl Rove a few minutes. Always a mistake.
He believes every minute of Trump not stepping up to dump Gaetz is emboldening the Dems and creating doubts among the voters. He thinks Gaetz will be dumped and is planning to run for something in two years as a sympathy candidate.
Saw the monster Laurence O’Donnell a few minutes. He had a sleazy woman’s ex lawyer slandering Gaetz about years ago while the drooling sex addict O’Donnell kept goading him to give more lascivious sex details “what did she say happened next in the hotel room?” This was in maybe three minutes. My fault for watching. Note even the DOJ dropped the cases.
I do not know much about the accusations against him but even if Gaetz is appointable, is there really no one better? That’d be my question. What sets him apart in Trump’s view?
>> The only man of immaculate character that existed in history was nailed to a cross.
You nailed it! Absolutely no pun intended.
Like mobs, organizations are functionally psychopathic, having no feelings whatsoever about using or hurting people. Was Hitler a psychopath, or did his organization become a cornered predator?
Is there no one better?
Since the only credential for the position is to be anti Swamp, it is hard to see how anyone can be more qualified.
This is the key issue throughout the entire array of media sources. They do not understand that they are the swamp.
>> is there really no one better?
If you think there is, name them.
>> What sets him apart in Trump’s view?
He is a fearless FIGHTER. Like President Trump himself.
Good post! Thank you.
No one better with guts and knowledge of political shenanigans than Matt gaetz in my opinion. This guy was the spear head to remove speaker McCarthy. That too guts to attack the king.
If we have DOJ management and staffers peeing their pants and gasping “OMG” at the very thought of a Gaetz AG, then that’s all the ‘case’ I need to fully support Trump’s pick of him.
AG is a role that I actually don’t have suggestions for that’s why I’m asking.
>> AG is a role that I actually don’t have suggestions for that’s why I’m asking.
Fair enough. President Trump wants Gaetz. That’s good enough for me.
Exactly right.
Ditto’s
Karl Rove never fools me. He is a spy from the Bushies.
Yes, he’s vestigial from a bygone era. Why he’s on with his stupid white board, who knows?
Gaetz grilling Garland and Wray.

12 minutes.
Watch it and see why they are scared to death of Gaetz as AG.
They got nothing, but they will pretend it's a slam dunk. Remember how guilty Trump was supposed to be, but they ended up with nothing. Same people.
All I need to see is who is lined up against Matt Gaetz. That alone would tell me I should support him.
