President Vladimir Putin has updated Russia’s nuclear doctrine, two days after his US counterpart Joe Biden granted Ukraine permission to strike targets deep inside Russia with US-made weapons.
Under the updated doctrine issued Tuesday, Moscow will consider aggression from any non-nuclear state – but with the participation of a nuclear country – a joint attack on Moscow.
In a phone call with reporters Tuesday, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov noted the changes mean that “the Russian Federation reserves the right to use nuclear weapons in the event of aggression using conventional weapons against it and/or the Republic of Belarus.”
“An important element of this document is that nuclear deterrence is aimed at ensuring that a potential adversary understands the inevitability of retaliation in the event of aggression against the Russian Federation or its allies,” Peskov said.

It is in every aggressive nuclear dictator's (i.e., Putin) best interests to constantly threaten nuclear war, in hopes such threats will deter weak Western democratic leaders.
It is in nobody's interest, least of all Putin's, if they ever actually carry through on their repeated threats.
Launching a nuclear war would change world history forever and destroy the countries of the dictatorships which started it.
But Putin's threats have to seem real, and that's where we're at today.
Pray this guy never gets in charge.

Russia’s new nuclear doctrine means NATO missiles fired against our country could be deemed an attack by the bloc on Russia. Russia could retaliate with WMD against Kiev and key NATO facilities, wherever they’re located. That means World War III.

Putin realizes that sanity is on the way. Since these missiles are all relatively ineffective against Russian air defense, they will have zero impact on the the continuing collapse of the Uke Army.
Putin will most likely refrain from direct retaliatory attacks on NATO. He will respond the same way he’s been doing by upping the lethality and numbers of weapons systems supplied to the Houthis and Iranians. As with other Russian supplied systems, Russian “volunteer” techs will be provided.
The Israelis and freezing Uke citizens are the ones about to pay the price for this latest DC warmongering idiocy.
I miss that guy.

If the Russians want to make the European continent uninhabitable, have at it. The citizens can all relocate to Africa, Asia and South America.

Lil’ Kimmy’s routine has been to threaten nukes to blackmail South Korea for aid. Trump (and tougher SK leadership) pretty much shut down those threats while Trump was in.

Putin has a ad problem. Mother Russia is very sick and probably can’t last the winter.
Making press releases won’t solve the problem
If he uses a nuke, he becomes an international criminal. Every country in the world will disavow him. No one will do business with him. He risks brining in conventional attacks from the west.
Putin is not that stupid.
The response will be to shoot down every missile Putin fires.
NATO will then invade Russia from multiple points and Russia will collapse in a day or two

Yep. Putin wants to die. He has a death wish and wants to take every one with him.
Of course after decades of embezzlement & theft, was any maintenance done on his precious nukes? Will they actually work, or is this one more bluff by a failing dictator who has ruined his country to support his ego?
Other than using nukes, Putin has nothing. And using nukes is self-defeating. Just withdraw your beat up military from Ukraine and everything will be fine.
