Here's the transcript of that part of the video where Hegseth is speaking:
[Hegseth speaking about fixing the military] There's a chance to course correct, but it would take a new Trump administration going after it really hard.
Shawn Ryan: How would they correct it?
Hegseth: Well, first of all, you've got to fire the chairman of the Joint Chiefs, and you've got to bring in a new Secretary of Defense. Any general or admiral involved in any of the DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) or "woke" initiatives has to go. Either you're in for warfighting and that's it, and that’s the only litmus test we care about. You've got to get DEI and CRT (Critical Race Theory) out of military academies, so you're not training young officers to be indoctrinated in this type of thinking.
Then, set the combat standards back to what they were—say, in 1995. Just make those the standards. As for recruiting, hire the guy who did Top Gun: Maverick and create some real ads that motivate people who want to serve.
There are lots of other ways to identify who gets promoted and why, but there's a need for an ethos change. People don’t want to serve because they don’t trust that their senior leaders have their best interests in mind in combat. I know mistakes were made on our tours, all over the place, but at least I had a sense that my senior leaders were committed to completing the mission for the right reasons. Maybe there were strategic differences and other issues, but that trust was still there.
Now, that trust is broken, and you have to re-establish it by putting no-nonsense warfighters in those positions—people who aren’t going to cater to socially correct garbage.
Just what I wanted to hear. Bravo Pete!
Ironic and significant that Pete’s latest book, The War on Warriors, lays out his foundational thinking on the DoD leadership. I’ve started reading and offer this brief excerpt showing the standard he has set for himself. I have no doubt he will live up to it:
If we are to recapture the military—and we must—it must happen quickly, and soon. Otherwise, we will lose. The current woke victory is broad, but it is not deep. The shoehorning of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), Critical Race Theory (CRT), feminism, genderism, safetyism, climate worship, manufactured “violent extremism,” straight-up weirdo shit, and a grab bag of social justice causes that infect today’s fighting force have nothing to do with making our military more capable. They are anathema to everything the American military stands for; a natural antibody is poised to kick in, if we fight to unleash it. It will take stone-cold leadership, unbending courage, and an unyielding fidelity to the Constitution. If we give the social justice wokesters time to dig in—to entrench—then the American military will cease to exist as a real fighting force—except against our own people. * * *
Hegseth, Pete. The War on Warriors: Behind the Betrayal of the Men Who Keep Us Free (pp. 5-6). HarperCollins. Kindle Edition.
Yes, Pete, “stone-cold leadership.” I am for it. And you. If I can be of help . . .
not only should all the woke DEI hires that were promoted be drummed out, then should have their ranks stripped back down to private first!
The liberals are dismissing him as unqualified because he’s been on Fox News.
As if his gig on Fox News is the only thing he’s ever done in his life.
They completely dismiss his military service as a key qualification for this job.
I am currently reading "The War on Warriors" and highly recommend it. I downloaded the Audible version the night after Hegseth's nomination and it completely changed my mind (in Pete's favor).
You gotta like that. A real military.
He’s published 5 books as well. If you want to know a person, read the books they write. JD Vance, for example. If you read Pete’s War on Warriors, you know. This is one no-nonsense guy. Imagine a retired (non-West Point) major running the Pentagon. As an Army retiree myself, I’m giddy to think of it. There will be waves. I can’t wait for his tell-all after the SecDef stint.
They are not supporting or defending the Constitution. They are spreading an ideology that weakens the military that has sworn to defend it.
LOL!
The racist DEI punk Charles Q. Brown, Jr. is getting pink-slipped!
For the qualifications-minded, he also was Princeton undergrad and has a graduate degree from Harvard in public policy.
He’s not even officially the nominee at this point, as Trump is not yet officially president again.
Okay, Karen.;-)
Someone has been posting the data on the last 10 Def Secs. He is more then qualified then most of them. He has actually seen modern war up-close and personal.
Last night my wife and I watched his interview on the Shawn Ryan podcast on YouTube.
I would recommend it if you get a chance.
Like he says, they all need to go, and Dave Ramsey proves that there are patriotic homosexuals that are atypical, that support the same ideals on many topics. I still may not agree with them for their sexual activity choice because of my religious views, but they are not the in-your-face radicals when it comes to their sexual preference. They will have to contend with their maker when that time comes, and that will depend upon the Lord to decide their fate. Until then they are here on earth, and I will treat them no differently than a straight person with whom I share certain values with, or even the vast majority of values I agree with. Dave Ramsey falls within that subset homosexual group.
Hegseth’s going to be great - and he’ll pull the military back to being a force that defends us rather than a commie/sexual weirdo experiment.
STOP, already!
