Report: CNN to ax top stars in post-election layoffs
Daily Mail ^ | 12 November 2024 | ALEX HAMMER

CNN is reportedly set to nix some of its top talent in a round of post-election layoffs. The rumblings, first reported by Puck News, come as high-paid personalities like Jake Tapper and Wolf Blitzer were reportedly recently denied raises. The two already boast salaries of $7 million and $3 million, while stars like Anderson Cooper take home an annual $20 million. Kaitlan Collins and Erin Burnett also command inflated earnings - $3 million and $6 million apiece, respectively.

{snip}

In the next few months, I’m told, CNN will implement another round of layoffs that will impact hundreds of employees across the organization,' reporter Dylan Byers wrote Friday, referencing CNN's recent 100-person layoff seen over the summer.

I heard that Wallace turned down a new offer from CNN, and will be leaving soon to form his own Podcast.
Good luck with that, Chris.

Stars? Since when are news people stars?

These people really think they’re special. The arrogance is mind bending.

Comcast, the media powerhouse behind NBCUniversal, is stirring up major buzz in the entertainment industry. The company recently announced that it’s considering a significant move: separating from several of its top cable networks, including MSNBC, CNBC, Bravo, and Oprah Winfrey’s Oxygen. This surprising revelation came from Comcast President Mike Cavanagh during the company’s third-quarter earnings call, and it has left media analysts and TV enthusiasts asking a ton of questions about the future of these beloved channels.

Thanks!

To hit Megan money in podcasting, you had to get into when she did. It’s unlikely, unless you have something really unique, that you can make the kind of money that she is making. That time has passed for most people. You might make a living, if you’re really good, but that’s almost it now.

IF they were smart...

They’d go to @ 90% personality free news readers.

they (and others) have made “the news” about the news personalities doing the interviews.

Should have a list of all these propagandists and their salaries.

They put their mouth where their money is.

If cable companies went to an a la carte model, these stations would be gone.

the only thing propping them up is that if you buy a package, they are in there like ticks. And you can not opt out of subsidizing them.

At best they likely offered to keep him at a reduced salary, he had a fit, so they sent him packing.
