Kinzinger: Rubio pick as Trump secretary of State ‘pretty good’
The Hill ^ | 11/12/2024 | Filip Timotija

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), a frequent critic of President-elect Trump, praised the reported nomination of Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) to serve as the next secretary of State.

“You know, Marco Rubio has been obviously kind of changing. I think he even voted against Ukraine aid, which was very surprising, when I learned that,” Kinzinger said during his Monday evening appearance on CNN’s The Source.”

“But he’s not a, you know, by no means is he like a neocon, so obviously that was important for Donald Trump, but he’s somebody that understands foreign policy. And that’s going to be important,” he told host Kaitlan Collins.

The former lawmaker, also one of the Republicans that voted to impeach Trump during his first term in office, added, “So as far as picks go, I think compared to some of the other names that were floating around, people who really don’t have any experience in foreign policy, I think this is a pretty good one.”

AND it is NOT a given Rubio has the slot. Not one damned bit.
Rubio needs to stay on as Senate Intel Committee CHAIR now- kicking that MORON Warner off the dais.

I have big doubts that President Trump would nominate “Little Marco” to this position. Time will tell.

Yea, he’s becoming a good Senator and now he’ll be a subpar SOS.

Having Kinzinger’s endorsement is not a good sign.

Rubio’s connection to the Cuban-American National Foundation is rather critical to the role on Senate Intel Committee to fight Maduro, Chi-Coms in S. America and the remnant of the Castro’s thug regime dissolving away. He has family and associates with dogs in that hunt. Highly motivated.

SOS would divert that attention in a major area of the world. Lindsey is licking his mil industrial chops- and strangely.... silent.

I think it will probably be up to Rubio. He helped Trump’s campaign. SOS is pretty tough to turn down. I want him in the Senate but I think Trump has probably made the offer

Oh, look, the legacy media said something. What’s next? A celebrity opinion?

Anonymous sources, Kinzinger's approval...

Trial balloon by the left and the MSM to sway public opinion, a test for leakers or an actual pick by Trump?
/rhetorical question

So Rubio, only in his 50’s, gives up safe Senate seat to be SoS for four years. Then what? Unless he gets a plumb role with a lobbying group he’s SOL. He is not, no matter what he thinks, a viable presidential candidate in the future.

Just because the election was won it doesn’t mean everyone should stop thinking.

Zero confirm on this— it is only See BS who has made the speculation. Again no confirm whatsoever. Rubios background all the way up the FL chain of offices is well known. The Cuban-Russian-ChiCom reconnections are a critical part of the task needed to be fulfilled INSTEAD of spreading out into the rest of the world revolt. It’s in the US’s backyard.

For example— how would Rubio fit in with the ME situation and Israel/Gaza etc. Answer: he wouldn’t.

This all makes no sense. Because the party in power usually loses seats in the mid-term elections, Trump and the Reps only have two years to get stuff done. Rubio’s Senate seat will be filled so he can revert back to that job. Why keep raiding the House and Senate when there are plenty of qualified people in the private sector to choose. We know that of the razor-thin republican majority on the House there will always be a few wishy RINOs to obstruct things. Congress critters are all too compromised by someone’s money. Like the old saying “It is better to own a Senator than to be one”.

I'd like to think Trump is playing with the media, leaking names out that they can plaster all over their birdcage base, only to turn out to be fake news...adding to their "credibility" as "news" organizations.

(not to mention weeding out the leaker(s)?
