Former U.S. Rep. Michael Grimm, a New York Republican who resigned from Congress following a tax fraud conviction, is paralyzed from the chest down after being thrown from a horse during a polo tournament, according to friends who are raising funds to pay for the ex-lawmaker's medical care.
Grimm, 54, suffered the devastating injury in September and is now being treated at the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in New Jersey, where the late actor Christopher Reeve was treated after a similar equestrian accident in 1995, according to Vincent Ignizio, a friend of Grimm's who is a former New York City Council member.

Horsey seat belts. Ralph said so.
God, pity the rich.
Terrible that he’s going through this, but wouldn’t he already be doubly insured, from his service as a Marine and from his service in elected office? I noticed a GoFundMe request. I used to hear a lot about him several years ago.
you raise a good indirect question.
Folks,
What is the agenda of this article from ABC?
Chris's last on camera appearance before his passing was in a project that I produced. His late wife Dana was an angel with the all of the many things she did on a daily basis to keep him comfortable; Things I never thought of before. She was literally Superwoman to the Superman.
He agenda is to discredit a Republican, of course. The left has no empathy unless they think there are children being left at the border in cages. Then they go wild, but if it’s a Republican, they’re mean as can be.
I have seen Grimm on Newsmax quite a bit. I believe he even wants a substitute anchor, or maybe even morning weekend anchor. I don’t usually watch Newsmax at that time of day, and I believe I have seen him on there.
Rough sport, polo. I once saw a horse with a small crater in its head, from a mallet whack. The horse was still unretired and playing #2! No grudges, no ptsd :)
Your right about that.....truly a rough sport...hard to watch.
He was the house member from my district!
Staten Island and a little part of Brooklyn.
Wow, this sucks.
There is more about Reeves as Superman than about a guy who played a real Marine and state representative in real life in the excerpt. Injured in Sept and they just figured out he is paralyzed? The first sentence has the fact that he was “former” which means he is irrelevant. Also that he is a tax cheat and a convicted Republican tax felon. So is this a hit piece from a NY city councilman or not. (Honest, Im your friend...)
Sounds like BS articles to block the daily news cycle. Clog the works. Stir the pot.
If this happened after he was discharged it wont be covered under the VA and he will get no rating on his disability increase because of it.
Best wishes to him for a full recovery.
The insurance was my question, as well.
Didn’t Al Gore promise he’d make Christopher Reeve walk again?
I don’t know much about Dana Reeves, but if she was involved in the day to day care giving for the late Chris Reeves, then God Bless her. When healthy, Chris was 6’4”, iow, a big guy, which would make keeping him clean and well dressed quite a job. Even when his illness advanced, Chris was still making appearances here and there. Much would have needed to be coordinated with his travel, etc.
Were you able to keep any of the material you produced for the Reeves, (for your portfolio) or that’s not how it works in such project production?
Ban polo.
The media is more paralyzed than he is.
(Michael) Grimm, former House member convicted of tax fraud, paralyzed in fall from horse”
This is exactly the kind of headline that makes people hate and mistrust the scumbags in the media.
