Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) and Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) have come out as election deniers now that the Associated Press called the Pennsylvania U.S. Senate race in favor of Republican Dave McCormick on Tuesday.
“Republican David McCormick has won Pennsylvania’s pivotal U.S. Senate seat, as the former CEO of the world’s largest hedge fund beat three-term Democratic Sen. Bob Casey in Tuesday’s election after accusing the incumbent of supporting policies that led to inflation, domestic turmoil and war,” the AP announced

Come on, Fetterman! You’re now the senior Senator from PA!
You guys do understand that the “AP calling something” has no meaning, right?
I presume that the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has responsible officials and a process, so that President of the Senate Harris on January 3, 2025 can know she’s swearing in the right person, correct?
And I presume there’s a warrant of office or some such, and I presume it doesn’t come from the Associated Press, amirite?
I don’t mean to be a party pooper, but I am surprised that the AP called this race. Right now McCormick is ahead by about 34,400 votes. If the voting sites are correct, Philadelphia County has only reported a little over 84% of its vote, with Casey having a 401,000 vote lead in the county (out of 673,000 votes cast). Casey is getting 78.4% of the vote in the county. If current trends continue, Casey will get another 58,994 votes in the county compared to only 14,146 for McCormick. That means that Casey will gain 44,848 votes on McCormick in Philadelphia County.
I’m very much hoping that McCormick wins, but I’m not counting my chickens yet.
You do realize a losing candidate refusing to concede means nothing right?
Right. We have to wait for Fox News to declare it for it to be official.
They will steal this somehow
Every county in PA has all the regular (day of and early) ballots counted. All that are left are provisional ballots. Estimated nearly 99% of all votes are counted. Not sure where you are getting your stats.
You do understand that calling Leftists "election deniers" is a goose/gander thing, right?
I presume that the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has responsible officials
You presume a lot.
NBC News is reporting that the two counties with the least percentage of counted votes remaining are Cambria (62.5%) and Philadelphia (84.2%). Hopefully they are wrong.
Yeah, the various online sites have precinct reporting stats all over the place. For AP to make the call, they must know that Casey will fall outside the 0.5% automatic recount threshold. Right now, it’s just a hair more than 0.5%. I wonder if they’re allowed to request a recount on their own dime. Some states allow it. Some don’t.
Well if NBC is saying it...check this out

Why sweat it John?
This may be one of those rare occasions when I am thankful for Politico. :-)
I’m not sure where you are getting your data, but the NY Times says >95% of the vote is in for Philadelphia County.
For once, I hope the NY Times is right. (Or should I say I hope the NY Times is right for once?)
As with Politico, this is one of those rare occasions when I am also thankful for the New York Times.
I was getting my information from NBC News:

It would seem that they are behind in the game.

Pennsylvania Ping!
Please ping me with articles of interest.
FReepmail me to be added to the list.
I would love to see Lake take AZ, but she still has a ways to go. Early Wednesday, she was behind by ~54,000 votes. By early this morning, it was ~50,000 votes. Now it's 43,700 votes. My wife was saying she heard earlier today that a LOT of votes remain uncounted in AZ. I wonder how many remain to be counted. I'm also hearing AZ has an odd voting procedure, for lack of a better phrasing.
