'We will be the best friend you've ever had if you get your house in order,' former envoy says to Canada
Kelly Craft, Donald Trump's former ambassador to Canada, says the country should prepare for what could be a more antagonistic bilateral relationship with the U.S. if her old boss wins Tuesday's presidential election.
Trump's focus on building up American manufacturing and making NATO allies spend more on defence means Canada would need to make some policy changes to stay in America's good graces, Craft said.
"Canada, they need to buckle up, The whole world needs to buckle up because President Trump will continue his policies from 2016. We are going to make America great again and we will be bringing it back to where it was under the Trump presidency," Craft told Radio-Canada.
"Just look at the first four years — that's a good gauge of what's going to be coming forward."
With U.S. election polling on a knife's edge, Canada is waiting anxiously to learn what could happen to the trillion-dollar bilateral trading relationship.
'Have confidence in Canada': Freeland
Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland sought to reassure Canadians Monday that the federal government is prepared to work with whoever wins the presidential election.
"I know a lot of Canadians are anxious right now and what I want to say to them is, be reassured and have confidence, have confidence in Canada … Remember that our country is strong and that America depends on us in really significant ways," Freeland said.
"Remember that our government has good relationships with the Democrats, we have good relationships with the Republicans, we are absolutely confident we will be able to work effectively with whomever the American people elect. I'm so certain of that."...
Her grandfather was her inspiration to become a journalist, her former occupation before becoming a politician... Her grandfather was also a Ukrainian NAZI who took over a house and printing business in Poland formerly owned by a Jewish family... All of whom died in concentration camps... He used the printing press to produce anti-Jewish NAZI propaganda. I'm not sure what's 'inspiring' about that... You'd need to ask Chrystia to figure that one out.
>> The first thing Trump should do... Is refuse to work with Chrystia Freeland.
You got that right! Freeland is evil personified. Pure Jezebel.
“...America depends on us in really significant ways,” Freeland said.
I can live without Canadian Bacon. ;)
It’s Trump’s way or the highway. Get used to it. What did Brandon and Heels Up do for Canada these past four years? Someone please refresh my memory.
Boy, no kidding.
Two words...suicide tourism.
Canada needs to make some policy changes to stay in America. Same with Mexico.
Next we need to get Poilievre elected in Canada.
I can live without poutine, too.
PedoJoe Biteme did SFA to assist Canaduh, in fact, on day 1, he killed Keystone XL, BADLY hurting Alberta, but making Crime Minister Castreau VERY happy.
No matter who wins tomorrow (or, up until January 20, 2025, unfortunately), Canaduh won’t benefit. Personally, I hope and pray that PDJT wins. With him in charge, Fidel’s little boy, Justin(e), MIGHT smarten up and fly right, or else, quit.
Canaduh is apt to hurt much more with PDJT in charge, but he is more apt to straighten out the world, than Kommie-la ever could. From what I have observed, the world generally thinks Kommie-la is even less bright and capable than PedoJoe. The world actually IS looking for LEADERSHIP from the US. PDJT is a leader! Neither PedoJoe nor Kommie-la fit that description.
May God save the USA!
IF TRUMP Wins, Canada will swing right, as will England, France Austria Holland and Germany. Much change is coming and it will mean change for the Muslim Population. The Left had its way and called the shots—they left a can, nay a bucket of worms to be cleaned up. Remember the Old Russian Saying; “Everything important happens in Europe, always has, always will.”
I do have family in Cobalt, Ontario. The only thing I would miss is Cousin ‘Lisa’s Famous Potato Soup’ (from her restaurant) but I have the recipe...and, potatoes! ;)
