Pollsters are overlooking ‘massive shift’ which could predict a Donald Trump election win, strategist says

Pollsters have been getting it “wrong” in the final days of the 2024 presidential race by overlooking a “massive shift” in voter registration since the last election — which could tip the scales in favor of former President Donald Trump on Tuesday, a veteran GOP strategist says.

Alex Castellanos, who has worked on campaigns for Jeb Bush and Mitt Romney, told Fox News’ “Special Report” that the polls — which show a razor-thin margin between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris — are disregarding a “wavelet out there of Republican enthusiasm.”

“What I think they’re missing is a massive shift in voter registration underneath all of this. Thirty-one states have voter registration by party. Thirty of them in the past four years have seen movement toward Republicans,” the longtime strategist said late Sunday.

This is done on purpose so as not to disillusion the Harris people.

I’m not sure that it will be only one more day. There may be challenges prolonging things, as there have been since Al Gore tried to reverse the election.

They are also overlooking the fact that you don’t have to change your registration to vote for the other party.

What they’re missing is that Trump supporters don’t talk to pollsters because they don’t want the possibility that some deranged leftist working for a polling company may try to cause them grief.

Based on his polling (national) in the high 40s, it is looking like Trump will win back any rural votes he lost the last time out compared to 2016 and even more so solidify his standing with such votes. And also he is likely winning back the urban votes also lost in 2020 compared to 2016 and probably making some inroads (not expecting wins in areas like L.A. County or Cook in Chicago) in such areas.

L2’s Paul Westcott discusses early voting/voters. The campaigns buy this information.

Correct—my other reason for not talking to pollsters is I don’t speak to lying dirtball scum.

I remember 2022 when Republicans were supposed to win larger as well. We will know by Wednesday morning. It is just how many manufactured ballots they want to release and do they want to throw this election or wait until 2028.

After four years of Biden, Republicans who may have been Trump shy four years ago are realizing that Trump is their only hope.

Four years of Kamala and her wokeness will cause even more of decline of reason. Something that has been lacking since Obama took over. There is wokeness and then their is reason... And there is nothing reasonable about wokeness.

That’s how they’ve been cooking the polls. They simply ignore the fact that there are far more Republicans now than there were 4 years ago AND they ignore who is likely to vote. Trump gets people who were no or low propensity voters in huge numbers. They refuse to take account of this thus they embarrassingly underestimate Trump’s real strength come election day.

Since “polling” is and always has been a method to shape opinion rather than reflect it, how is it wrong??

I hope this is all true, but we heard this in 2022 too. Everyone needs to stay calm and not start thinking this is in the bag, or going to be a landslide for Trump. If it is, great. But be more prepared for a very close election with contested states again.

“This is done on purpose so as not to disillusion the Harris people.”

That, and if they can manage an epic steal, they want it to appear plausible.
