Georgians Are Voting Early at a Record Pace, But Democrats Have Concerns

The percentage of Black voters so far is below the 30% political observers like to see.

State Rep. Carl Gilliard, D-Savannah, joined an emergency Zoom call with about 70 other Black Georgia faith leaders Monday night to discussj their concerns about the state’s latest early voting figures.

Most prominent leaders of the state’s Black faith community have thrown their support behind Vice President Kamala Harris in her White House race against former President Donald Trump. The latest early voting data has given them cause for concern about Harris’ chances of winning Georgia’s 16 crucial electoral college votes in a battleground state that was decided by less than 12,000 votes four years ago.

“As of Monday at 12:30 p.m., Georgians surpassed the 2.73 million …

Among those voters are more than 782,000 Black Georgians, whose turnout rate has dropped from more than 29% on the record-setting first day of early voting — when many Black seniors traveled to the polls with canes, walkers, and wheelchairs, boosting the state’s overall early voting turnout rate — to about 25% since then.

That’s the bad news for Harris and down-ballot Democrats, according to Gilliard and other prominent GLBC members who spoke with Capital B Atlanta on Monday. North Carolina, the other Southern region battleground state, has also seen low Black voter turnout during its early voting period.

Black folks, who overwhelmingly support Democrats in most elections, comprise about 31% of Georgia’s overall population. Elected leaders and political observers say Democrats looking for a guaranteed win in statewide office races in Georgia usually need to hit a 30% Black turnout rate. And Black turnout during early voting is usually higher than it is on Election Day. But “Twenty-five percent is low,” Georgia House Minority Leader James Beverly … “We need it more around 31%.”

Just imagine if some Republican state rep had an "emergency Zoom call" with priests/pastors to discuss concerns over early voting figures. The double standard boggles the (reasonable) mind.

A church near me tells their members who to vote for on the church sign outside the church!

I would love to get a Harris sign with LBGTQ+ and post it adjacent to their property! The church members do not buy into the down-low.

Meanwhile there is record turnout in the deep red mountain counties north of Atlanta, very good news for Republicans.

Reference: Last August, we learned that Democrats are committing $300,000 (that they admit to) to register and influence 9 million overseas voters — even though the federal government says only 2.4 million legal voters live in other countries.

That’s 6.4 million votes that Democrats want to find...that don’t exist. The group financing the efforts——”Democrats Abroad”—— told CBS News that the ballots are “likely to favor Kamala Harris.”

Given the extraordinarily slim margin in Georgia’s 2020 presidential election, overseas votes could prove critical.

According to SOS Raffensperger, 21,075 military and overseas Georgia ballots had been “requested” as of October 21st. By way of comparison, Biden’s margin of “victory” in Georgia was less than 12,000 votes.

Black participation sitting at 26.1% through Tues. 10/29. The Wed. figures not added in yet, but it looks like black voting going to be at 26% going into Election Day. Two more days of early voting which ends Fri 11/1.

Fulton County voting is at 78.8% of 2020 total. Dekalb County is 73.3% of 2020. These two combined have about 1.5 million registered voters and are heavily black and Dem.

Cobb County at 77% and Gwinnett at 75% of 2020 are two more big suburban ATL counties that vote Dem but more mixed race, Gwinnett with a big Latino population. Figures for Dekalb and Gwinnett in particular are not impressive.

georgiavotes.com shows GA voting totals.

Be careful what they wish for. Measuring black voting numbers and believing that they are all going to Kamala may not go as planned

Voter suppression is anytime the left is out voted by the right.

Why do states broadcast early voting results prior to election day? Is it for the media? Does it border on election tampering charges?

Mail-in/absentee votes currently sitting at 6% of total votes in GA. In 2020 mail-in was 26%.
