U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Wednesday there is evidence that North Korea has sent troops to Russia, as South Korea’s spy chief told lawmakers that 3,000 North Korean troops are in the country receiving training on drones and other equipment before being deployed to battlefields in Ukraine.
Speaking to reporters during a visit to Rome, Austin said “What exactly they are doing? Left to be seen. These are things that we need to sort out,” according to a video posted by the Washington Post.
If the troops join the war in Ukraine on Russia’s side, it will be “a very, very serious issue,” Austin said, adding it would have an impact in Europe and in the Indo-Pacific region.

I wonder what an honest breakdown of those 3.57 million troops as to actual existence, readiness to serve, and Russia’s ability to train, supply, feed, and deploy them would reveal? Are the majority of them already being used in places they dare not be redeployed from?
This has been in the news for weeks. It’s amazing that Austin just figured it out now.
Yes, this has been known for several weeks. More recently, South Korea has announced it’ll send members of its own military to Ukraine to “observe” the North Koreans and — get this — assist in the interrogation of any captured North Koreans! How do you suppose that would work out?

Many western nations are allowing Ukraine to use their consulates and embassy’s as recruiting stations.

Ukraine (we - since we pay for it and allow them to do this in the areas we control) recruits heavily in South America as well.
Where do some of these mercenaries come from? Of course North America and Europe, but also Central and South America.
Brazil, Columbia, a few from Mexico, Argentina are the primary places.

In fact, we were flooding Ukraine with foreign mercenaries long before the war and that is why this issue was part of the Minsk accords (August 2014): 10.) To withdraw illegal armed groups and military equipment as well as fighters and mercenaries from the territory of Ukraine.
