Some 200,000 mail carriers have reached a tentative contract deal with the U.S. Postal Service that includes backdated pay raises and a promise to provide workers with air-conditioned trucks.

The new agreement, which still needs to be ratified by union members, runs through November 2026. Letter carriers have been working without a new contract since their old one expired in May 2023. Since then they have continued working under the terms of the old contract.

Postal rate increases incoming.

How much will it affect parcel post I wonder? That is one of two postal services that makes a profit. The other is direct mail advertising.

"...air-conditioned trucks..."

How does that square with battery powered trucks they need to be using ?

Never had air conditioning in the truck when I worked at the post office . Depending on the state I don’t think it’s that big of a problem. Forcing carriers to do 4 hours over time every day was a bigger problem and no new people wanted to do those hours at the starting pay they were offering.
They could get rid of 90% of management and not have any problems

Why do we have a post office in the age of Amazon?

It doesn’t. But for about half the country, it seems only decent.

Another sign the deep state is concerned Harris is going down. Look for all kind of legal settlements with liberal groups in the next few months as they try to pump money to their special interest groups.

If businesses knew what USPS employees likes to with their direct mail advertising, biz might not spend so much on it...

“Why do we have a post office in the age of Amazon?”

1. Private Express Statutes

2. Amazon uses USPS

And notice that AC for Deep State is okay.

Just not for the private sector.

Wonder how well the AC will work in any case in those EV mail trucks...

And note that rural mail carriers aren5 covered by this contract.

That bit of info was left for the last sentence of the article.

Because private companies can ban people because they said something rude about a protected class.

Rural carriers negotiate through their own union. Different Postal jobs have their own unions.

I know.

I just found it interesting that any reader ignorant of that would only learn of it if the reader read to the last sentence of the article.

I’m very familiar with the USPS.

Which is why we bend over backwards not to use it.

Our mail service is so poor, I can’t believe they’d get more $$$ for that kind of service!! We get delivery at our house anywhere from 9 am to 7 pm - never the same driver - never in uniform. They can drive by my mailbox when the flag is up, drive around and around a half dozen times, finally stop on one of those trips and pick up my mail but they’re still not through - drive around the circle some more and THEN stop and put mail in my box... I’ve never seen ANY service anywhere that bad!

USPS Employee Says He Earns Over $100K A Year Delivering Mail

A USPS worker says he earns over $100K delivering mail and the internet cannot believe it! @mgatollari posted his pay check on Instagram with accompanying videos to prove his point to the non believers.

“So, here’s one of my last checks. As you can see the overtime hours plus my normal pay, all equals up to $4,423.That’s for two weeks of work......multiply that by 26 weeks that’s over $100,000.”

He added: “We need help and the post office pays well. Granted, I’ve only been in here for, you know, less than 10 years, but the post office pays well and we’re hiring.
