Opinion: Did political correctness and backroom dealing doom the Democratic ticket from the start?
The Hill ^ | OCT 19, 2024 | Douglas MacKinnon

Posted on 10/19/2024 6:53:42 PM PDT by lasereye

The Democratic Party has a number of very impressive politicians and potential candidates within its ranks. That said, most Republicans, some Democrats and arguably millions of Americans don’t believe Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz are two of them.

It didn’t have to be this way. The Democratic National Committee as well as the Democratic powerbrokers behind the scenes could have engineered a much stronger and much more electable ticket. They simply chose not to. Why? In part, because they were afraid of the optics and the potential blowback.

I wrote on this site multiple times over the past 18 months that President Biden would not be the Democratic nominee come November 2024 — something that seemed painfully obvious to those not in the tank for Biden or the Democratic machine.

There were several options to create a ticket that did not include Biden, Harris or Walz.

One of the most obvious options would have been to ask or convince Harris to resign, and then replace her with someone like California Gov. Gavin Newsom or another proven vote-getter.

But again, to pull off something that creative Democrats would have to travel on the road leading right up to Harris’s office. For understandable reasons centered around political correctness and the potential fallout from such a switch, no one on the Democratic side seemed anxious to ask Harris to step aside.

So here we are. “Identity politics” picked Harris. Backroom insiders then “convinced” Biden to withdraw from the race. Next, Harris and her backers used identity politics to select Walz as her running mate.

Could a stronger ticket have been created? Yes.

But we will never know. That said, because the Democrats may have outsmarted themselves; there are mounting signs that Trump is about to cruise to victory.

Douglas Mackinnon is yet another Never Trumper Republican. He apparently sees the far-left Newsom as impressive and wishes he had been at the head of the ticket so he could defeat Trump.

How is a Republican who would favor Gavin Newsom over Trump a Republican? If you're comfortable backing a hard-left Democrat who has destroyed the once-great state of California with socialist policies, why not just embrace being a Democrat?

I don’t think so. She has a few friends but no one of note. biden had 50 years of people he knew. She really had an insular 3 1/2 years as well. They’re going to dump all the blame on her and move on.

My wife is 5’11” and shorter people ask her to get things off the top shelf all the time. I don’t think race has ever been a factor.

I did some more research on Mackinnon. He may not be a Never Trumper at all.

Here he talks about a round of golf he played with Trump at Trump National in July. He remarked about what impressive physical condition Trump is in.

https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/day-hitting-golf-balls-driving-range-trump-revealed-real-difference-between-presidents

So why does he refer to Newsom as "impressive"? He may just mean he's a good politician, nothing more.

Didn’t anyone actually read the article, it is merely pointing out something we all know about the huge strategic errors the democrats have made since the Biden debate, it isn’t about promoting Newsom.

And Never Trump cucks like this guy don’t have any problem with the DNC and their wealthy/connected “power brokers” “engineering” the ticket. It’s as if he enjoys being the peon/peasant. What a tool.

Walz reminds me of a re-play of whomever Hillary picked. A big nothing. JD has been a wonderful spokesman for the Trump ticket, handled himself well and certainly cruised to victory in that VP debate (perhaps the inflection point where things turned sour for Harris ‘joy’?).

Obama wanted an open primary, but for all his power, it didn’t happen. Woke/DEI religion demanded Harris take the slot.

What I find interesting, or will find interesting, assuming Trump wins, and it’s looking pretty decent if we do have say Newsom vs perhaps the FL gov in 2028, will the Never Trumpers/NeoCons still line up for the Dem once again for ‘reasons’ even once Trump is no longer a factor.

I have a different theory:

In 2020, those people controlling the Democrat Party (Soros, Gates, WEF, et al) wanted a Puppet for President. The weaker the better. Whomever they chose would win by massive election cheating, so they didn’t care how bad, weak, &/or demented the candidate was. Biden was perfect for the role - stupid & corrupt, as was Harris as VP. Their plan worked perfectly.

In 2024, the Rats have exactly the same plan. Harris will do as she is told, that is, to continue to weaken the US to the point of irrelevance by every means possible. Already there are reports of votes being changed electronically as well as other obvious irregularities.

This country elected his America hating “husband”.

So if Harris wins, the fraud will be too obvious. That's why they had to replace Biden after his debate in June.

"The Democratic Party has a number of very impressive politicians and potential candidates within its ranks."

That is the most ludicrous topic sentence I've read in decades.

This guy seems ignorant about the political/legal process in a scenario like this.

You don’t just “replace” a VP. A new VP would have to be nominated and then approved by BOTH houses of Congress. That’s a tall order no matter who controls Congress, and the process would likely end with a dopey misfit in that position who doesn’t threaten anyone and has no real political future. That’s how we got Gerald Ford when Spiro Agnew resigned.

In other words, the most likely outcome would have been someone like Tim Walz as the VP … if Congress even bothered replacing the VP at all.

“On paper Kammy was a pretty sound candidate”

How so? The woman has been an empty-headed empty suit her entire life. She has zero accomplishments in all her years. She cannot conceive of ideas or articulate them. She babbles platitudes, not positions. She cackles nervously to hide her rank stupidity. She is pro-communist. She has no understanding of our nation or our economy. She was the most far-left Senator, even farther left than Sanders and Warren.

What do you think made her a sound candidate on paper? Other than being Tamil Indian / Jamaican, has a uterus, and a skin tone lighter than most blondes who sunbathe in the summer.
