A majority of Americans (52 percent) feel worse off today than four years ago under former President Donald Trump, Gallup polling found Friday.
Four years ago the nation was in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, which greatly impacted the economy and the lives of millions of Americans. Despite the crises, Americans believe they were better off.
Costs increased by about 20 percent across the board after the Biden-Harris administration assumed office and instituted “Bidenomics.”
Russia invaded Ukraine, Hamas and Iran attacked Israel, illegal migrants invaded the southern border, and the nation suffered the deadly Afghan withdrawal.
Gallup reported its findings, predominantly shaped by soaring costs:
Americans’ perceptions of whether they are better off have been related, historically, to how they feel about the U.S. economy, as reflected in Gallup’s monthly Economic Confidence Index (ECI).
…
Gallup’s latest measurement of Americans’ economic views, from an Oct. 1-12 poll, puts the ECI at -26 — one of the worst election-year readings, along with the 39% “better off” reading from September.
Forty-six percent of Americans described economic conditions under the Biden-Harris administration as “poor,” while 29 percent said it was “only fair,” Gallup found. A whopping 62 percent said the economy is “getting worse.”

Good impression of the dingbat? lol
And 48% have deluded themselves or are outright lying.
Absolutely guaranteed 52% is way low.
Unfortunately there are still too many that aren’t personally feeling the pinch enough to stop them from saying that they are okay if the world burns, as long as it’s not Trump.
I get Gallup questions all the time, I say the same thing every time. Direction of the country is wrong, I disapprove of Biden, Harris, Democrats and Republican are running the country. My favorite questions is what is the greatest threat to America, I say the Democratic party and illegal immigration.
I don’t “feel” worse off. I am worse off. Retirees are screwed. I guess Kamala Harris doesn’t support defending retirees.
I never get polled!!
Some of our best entertainment was if we were visiting my parents who retired on the family homestead. I pity the pollster who called and asked either Mom or Dad for their opinion. LOL! They got more opinions and attitude than they wanted, for sure.
I think that if the elite are being polled they are telling the truth, i.e., that they are not worse off than under Trump. The poor economy might touch their lives very slightly, if at all.
I get emails, some pay me $1, some 5 depending on how long and tedious it is. Frankly, I have no idea how I got on the list, but I fill it out when I get it. Not all politics, they survey on the workplace too.
“Feel”? It’s real at our house.
Between inflation and open borders, we are in a disaster scenario right now.
Correction: majority ARE worse off under biden than under pres Trump! Some just have enough $$ that it doesn’t bother them too much, but those that were middle class under pres Trump are now low to poverty income because their payments didn’t I crease to keep up with the massive rise in prices- double what they were under pres Trump!
So any “poll” saying Comrade Harris leads on the economy is automatically suspect.
I used to take my wife out once a week to eat out at Texas Road House. Now we can only afford it once a month. But only if we order water to drink and no appetizers. This economy has been devastating.
Yep. Worse off.
But half will blame it on Trump. Somehow. Someway
but mean tweets! or should I now say mean Xs!
We now eat more at home than we have in 20 years. I am actually forgoing any sort of Christmas or holiday decorations this year. I am saving receipts and taking things back to the store — we’ve always been “comfortable” but it’s starting to crack a bit. We are fervently paying off debts and trying to pay down our mortgages in prep for retirement. We both drive older cars but they’re almost paid off. Very few new items or clothes. I do splurge on hair and makeup as I have to face the public everyday. We are dual income earners with hubby bringing in a military retirement. We live modestly. I do t know how the truly poor even afford to eat. We can’t seem to get ahead due heavy tax burden. I fear what it will be like when we can no longer work.
