LONDON -- The average size of global wildlife populations have declined by 73% in 50 years, a new study by the World Wildlife Fund has found.
The study, titled the 2024 Living Planet Report, monitored wildlife populations of 5,495 species of amphibians, birds, fish, mammals and reptiles between 1970 and 2020. Its findings reveal declines in “every indicator that tracks the state of nature on a global scale."
“The findings of this report are alarming,” said Anke Schulmeister-Oldenhove, the senior forest policy officer at the WWF. “EU consumption continues to be a major driver of global biodiversity loss, particularly in critical ecosystems like the Amazon, which is nearing an irreversible tipping point.”
The study found that freshwater populations suffered the "heaviest declines," falling by 85%. This was followed by terrestrial populations, which declined by 69%. Marine populations were found to have declined by 56%.

Total BS. The World Wildlife Fund is an extremely radical group.

My husband’s fault…deer jerky is tasty. Raccoons killing out chickens (law allows us to kill them. Raccoons kill and don’t even eat them. Cruel animals.
You are correct. They are a leader in dis-information about polar bears.
I think euroweenie globalhomos worldwide need to give up meat completely in order to save the planet.

The WWF sure hasn’t been to my house!
Every day I have dozens of whitetail deer out eating my shrubs. And I have so many raccoons trying to get into my barn to get my chickens that I can catch them two at a time in my Have-a-heart traps.
When I spend the time trapping them I let them loose down at the “homeless encampment/protests” and toss out a few packs of peanut butter crackers between the tents.
well, they have been eating the cats and the dogs...
I’ve helped out a bit. The venison makes for a great meal.
I can't speak for the Fund or its integrity. But the link will
provide various sources from varying world agencies, groups.
Not sure I can disagree...
My wild life has certainly declined by 70%+ in the last 50 years.
Shucks, it’s sneakin’ up on non-existent, and I’m only 71 years old.
But, OH! I’ve got stories...
Well who cares if it does? Wildlife competes with humans for food (look up feral hog on google or YouTube). We have over 8 billion people alive today compared to 3.4 billion in 1970. More agriculture to support them and less wild land and concomitant wildlife. The F…ing deer devour everything in my garden and it’s illegal to discharge a firearm where I live. Less wildlife would be an improvement for me.
Stupid EU.
Feral cats take much small wildlife, including rabbits...
We have up to a dozen deer in the yard throughout the year, except deer season. They return the day after the season ends.
World Wildlife Fund paid Carter Roberts, President/CEO, total compensation of $1,127,575 based on fiscal 2021 reporting.
