US military compiled list of American weapons systems that could help Ukraine in the war with Russia

The US military’s top commander in Europe compiled a list of weapons systems the US possesses that could help Ukraine in its fight against Russia that the Biden administration has not yet provided, including air-to-surface missiles and a secure communications network used by NATO.

In an annex attached to a classified report about the Biden administration’s Ukraine strategy that was delivered to Congress early last month, Gen. Chris Cavoli outlined a list of US capabilities that could help the Ukrainian military fight more effectively, according to people familiar with the report.

The list included the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile, a type of air-launched cruise missile, and a communications system known as the Link 16 — a data sharing network used by the US and NATO that is supposed to enable more seamless communication between battle systems and is particularly useful for air and missile defense command and control. Ukraine has asked for both systems repeatedly, another source familiar with their requests said.

Cavoli’s list does not address why the US hasn’t provided systems that he assesses would be of value. But US officials have previously expressed concerns about sensitive US technology falling into Russian hands, which one source said is likely the holdup with the Link 16 system. The air-to-surface missiles, which are fired from fighter jets, might not be useful to the Ukrainians unless they achieve some level of air superiority, the source added.

Nearly three years into the war, the Ukrainians are still pleading with the US to provide more advanced weaponry and lift restrictions on how long-range missile systems provided by the US can be used.

Biden and Harris continue to prolong the war by denying vital military aid to Ukraine and imposing ridiculous rules of engagement on our allies. Trump will finally end the war if he unshackles Zelynsky imposing unacceptable losses on Putin.

Trump will end the war by not supplying the ukes and getting Putin to stop.

I think you are wrong. Trump isn’t stupid - obviously not supplying the Ukes will not get Russia to stop. Russia doesn’t respond well to weakness.

What Ukraine needs is 100,000 fresh, trained, 18-20 year old troops. Which we aren’t sending.

Good luck with that.

He’s not but, he also doesn’t want escalation he has said so. He will bring them to the table, that was always his plan. Trump is not a war monger, especially in a fruitless, worthless effort such as this one.

The only way to bring Russia to the table is with a show of strength. A show of weakness will only embolden Putin.

The show of strength is Trump in office again, not the pansy idiots there now and their desire for eternal wars to feed their pockets.

Stupid neocons again — being stupid, greedy, evil, or all of the above.

They introduce every “wonder-weapon” piecemeal, in limited amounts, and spread it over several months.

So these weapons are effectively useless to Ukraine for mass use, and allow Russia to easily study their effects, and develop counter-measures, before the next “wonder-weapon” is hyped in the headlines

Its almost like the goal isn’t really to win, but to keep the war running, bleed both Ukraine and Russia as long as possible, and run up the MIC bill as high as possible

Why bring russia to the table if Ukraine is winning and Russian gov't is on the verge of collapse?

Just treat articles like this for what they are, high comedy from the sort of people who think Biden and Harris are effective leaders.

Right now in Ukraine they are taking back the seized territory and claiming more. Russian Ministry of Defense claimed control of Pokrovskiy and Novaya Sorochina village of Kursk region (seized territory). Governor of Belgorod region announced full evacuation of Petrovka and Solovyevka villages and declaring them as closed zones.

This is more nonsense from the MIC. which can’t even produce this overpriced junk in quantity.

Current production of the Joint Standofff air ground missile is 500 per year, and the cost is $1.7 million.

But they are doubling production to 1000 per year. That’s almost 3 per day !

The US Army Corps of Engineers should be rebuilding I40 to Asheville, NC. Where are they?

The Soviet Union was defeated. Warsaw Pact nations are free. Soviet Republics are free. NATO at Russia’s doorstep is insanity.

NATO mission creep is a way to sleep-walk ourselves into an exchange of ICBMs. It would be a bad idea even if we did not have significant problems here in the US that we are not attending to.

That's a good question for Biden. Not sure what that has to do with Ukraine - as far as I know nobody is proposing to deploy the Army Corps to Ukraine.
