I realized something very important about the human condition when I was in high school.
I realized that people tend to hate those who fight evil far more than they hate those engaged in doing evil.
What made me come to this conclusion was the way in which many people reacted to communism and to anti-communism.
To my amazement, a great many people -- specifically, all leftists and many, though not all, liberals -- hated anti-communists far more than they hated communism.
Because of my early preoccupation with good and evil, already in high school, I hated communism. How could one not, I wondered. Along with Nazism, it was the great evil of the 20th century. Needless to say, as a Jew and as a human, I hated Nazism. But as I was born after Nazism was vanquished, the great evil of my time was communism.
Communists murdered about 100 million people -- all noncombatants and all innocent. Stalin murdered about 30 million people, including 5 million Ukrainians by starvation (in just two years: 1932-33). Mao killed about 60 million people. Pol Pot and his Khmer Rouge (Red Cambodians) killed about 3 million people, one in every four Cambodians, between 1975 and 1979. The North Korean communist regime killed between 2 million and 3 million people, not including another million killed in the Korean War started by the North Korean communists.

Funny, as a guy who speaks Latin quite well due to its similarity to Spanish and 12 years of Latin in school, an early lifetime going to a Latin mass (and not opposed to it at all), and being an altar boy and otherwise deeply involved
In the Church, I actually think of Latin as an evil sounding language, spoken by the killers of Christ, the Romans.
For clarity, I am Christian, baptized and confirmed Catholic, and not remotely anti-Catholic, although the current Pope is a complete heretic and is leading the Church astray.
And also, for clarity, I do not consider it an evil language. It just sounds that way, to me, subjectively. Other people love it, and good on them.
“Once the hostilities finally show up on everyone’s radar, they drop any effort to discern the contexts and complexities or harm that may have preceded it, and they commence immediately with trying to suppress further action and punishing the parties involved, usually aligned with whose ‘side’ they are already aligned with.”
I have observed this behavior. I associate it with the appeaser mentality.
Appeasers or fence sitters are worse than the enemy.
Those that burn neither hot or cold... despicable.
The churches have been compromised severely. Most don’t even realize they are listening to the other guy when they go to church.
I have heard that it’s easier to lie to people than it is to convince them they have been lied to. Bonhoeffer, Cipolla and Dunning/Kruger are insightful in understanding this phenomenon. It’s basically ego and stupidity that makes people fact resistant.
Maybe that is why I like Lating. Also, Pope Benedict is the realpope IMHO.
Benedict has been dead 2 years .
People who call themselves Christians say all kind of things, and any resemblance to the gospel is often only incidental. Catholic, protestant, doesn’t matter— Remember, “satan’s” favorite place to hunt souls is in the church itself.
Not Dunning/Kruger, just cognitive dissonance. To accept that one has been lied to is to admit one has been credulous. Nobody wants to think themselves a fool.
This also perfectly explains why so many people wore face diapers, accepted an unproven and untested mix of chemicals into their bodies to 'save' them from COVID, believed a paper hanging Austrian when he told them all of their troubles come from Jewish people, helped load their former friends onto trains to ship them to 'labor' camps...
Also, fighting evildooers requires work. Many people are lazy.
Just look at all the parents surprised at the perversion in schools — schools they have never visited. Teachers they would not recognize in a store. Admin doofs they cannot ID on a ballot.
That is lazy.
True
satan speaks his lies in Every language.

The sheep generally do not like the sheepdog. He looks a
lot like the wolf. He has fangs and the capacity for
violence. The difference, though, is that the sheepdog
must not, cannot and will not ever harm the sheep. Any
sheepdog who intentionally harms the lowliest little lamb
will be punished and removed. The world cannot work
any other way, at least not in a representative democracy
or a republic such as ours.
Still, the sheepdog disturbs the sheep. He is a constant
reminder that there are wolves in the land. They would
prefer that he didn’t tell them where to go, or give them
traffic tickets, or stand at the ready in our airports in
camouflage fatigues holding an M-16. The sheep would
much rather have the sheepdog cash in his fangs, spray
paint himself white, and go, “Baa.”
Absolutely agree.
I give that paper a C for not looking up the definition of a “sheepdog”.
He means “guarddog” not “sheepdog”. /literary reviews from limited perspectives

Christ came for the sinner.
satan comes for the righteous.

Read it slowly and let your lips move to get the full flavor.
You get a D for humorlessness.
