GOP Sen. Marco Rubio says war in Ukraine will end 'with a negotiated settlement'

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., on Sunday blasted the Biden administration for not defining “what victory means in Ukraine” and said that a future Trump administration would end the war “with a negotiated settlement.”

“We hope that when that time comes, there is more leverage on the Ukrainian side than on the Russian side. That really is the goal here, in my mind. And I think that’s what [former President] Donald Trump is trying to say,” Rubio said in an interview on NBC News’ “Meet the Press.”

Following her meeting with Zelenskyy on Thursday, Harris said there are “some in my country who would instead force Ukraine to give up large parts of its sovereign territory, who would demand that Ukraine accept neutrality and would require Ukraine to forgo security relationships with other nations.”

“These proposals are the same of those of [President Vladimir] Putin, and let us be clear, they are not proposals for peace,” she added. “Instead, they are proposals for surrender, which is dangerous and unacceptable.”

for the low low price of $2.7 TRILLION DOLLARS, the parties will consider surrendering

[[Harris said there are “some in my country who would instead force Ukraine to give up large parts of its sovereign territory, who would demand that Ukraine accept neutrality and would require Ukraine to forgo security relationships with other nations.”]]

hmm- sounds a lot like what the liberals in the US demand from Israel

Sounds like Rubio has FINALLY figured out that there is no way for the West to win in Ukraine, and at best we can hope for a tie (by both sides being nuked).

Not only will it end in a negotiated settlement, it will end in a settlement with worse terms for Ukraine than the terms that Zelensky walked away from a month or so into the conflict.

And don't expect America to press the Russians too hard on Zelensky’s behalf.

If the US is seeking concessions from Russia, the concessions will be in the form of backing away from support of Iran and it's nuclear programs.

I don’t give a darn what the settlement is between the slavs...

But it better not include more unaccounted for BILLIONS of our taxpayer dollars.

Wow - it just sounds so easy.

I’m curious if Rubio or anyone else in DC has asked Russia their opinion?

We gambled big on Ukraine as a woke, anti-Russia, globalist plaything for western elites and governments, and that bet failed, badly.

Oh well. Let’s go back to the bar for a few drinks.

According to the President of the Russian Federation, Ukraine and Russia agreed in principle to the draft agreement spring 2022 in Istanbul, but then Kiev refused to sign it after Russian troops voluntaraly pulled back when ordered by Moscow as part of the deal.

The text says that the UK, China, Russia, the USA, France, and Turkey would act as guarantors. Sources suggest Boris Johnston travelled to Kiev soon after to insist / threaten Zelensky not to continue with the deal.

All wars end with negotiated settlements.

Except for the eternal wars in the middle-east.

And close behind we have no negotiations which will end the eternal aggression from the Russians.

Too damned late.

I hate Putin, but at this point he’s likely to take all of Ukraine without a settlement. I expect he will.

My fear is that they will nuke critical infrastructure so that we are sent back to the stone age and they will leave the DC swamp intact to prevent any competent person from doing anything that could lead to rapid recovery. Meanwhile the Russian peasants will continue to carry on like they have carried on for a millennium.

I don’t think Putin ever wanted to take all of Ukraine. Just the ethnic Russian part. Including Crimea.

“We hope that when that time comes, there is more leverage on the Ukrainian side than on the Russian side."

Hope and reality are totally different things.

Putin never wanted all of Ukraine. That's the lie.

Putin was more than happy to settle for Minsk Accords.

It was the neocons and the Western elite that wanted to provoke this war from 2014 onward.

Yep, the Russians have Civil Defense and they modernized and upgraded it once they figured out what the Neocons have in store for them. So they’ll survive just about anything we try to do to them. The US, on the other hand, will ‘have a bad day’.

“I don’t think Putin ever wanted to take all of Ukraine. Just the ethnic Russian part. Including Crimea.”

Putin would have to be out of his mind to want Western Ukraine and, in fact, he didn’t want any of Ukraine until the Neocons forced his hands (even the 2022 agreement didn’t give him anything, much less the earlier agreements and proposals).

But, at this point, with the Neocons all but PROMISING to arm-up whatever remains of Ukraine and re-start their War of Aggression, Putin may well have no choice but to fully liberate Ukraine.

...and to think, all this could have been avoided if the Neocons simply didn’t stick their noses in Ukraine - Ukraine would still be a country, and it would still have Crimea, Donbass, and the everything else.
