Israel launched fresh strikes on Beirut again this afternoon after killing Hezbollah boss Hassan Nasrallah and a senior Iranian commander in an attack on Friday that has rocked the region and threatens drastic escalation.
The Israeli military said late Saturday afternoon it had carried out an air strike in the Dahieh area of Beirut - the same district targeted in the strike on Hezbollah's headquarters in the city yesterday.
Israeli military chief Herzi Halevi acknowledged that 'challenging days await' for Israel after confirming the death of Hezbollah's secretary-general, with Iran and Hezbollah's allies vowing revenge.
'We are determined to continue destroying the Hezbollah terrorist organisation and to keep fighting,' he said on Saturday.
'We have more missions ahead on all fronts – destroying terrorist organisations and their capabilities, returning our hostages.
Confirming Hassan Nasrallah's death today, Hezbollah pledged to keep fighting Israel - saying that the leader had 'joined his fellow martyrs'.
They said in a statement: 'The leadership of Hezbollah pledges... to continue its jihad in confronting the enemy, supporting Gaza and Palestine, and defending Lebanon and its steadfast and honorable people.'
And Iran's Supreme Leader pledged that 'all regional resistance forces' would support Hezbollah, demanding a 'strong' response to the attack.
Israel defended its operations in Lebanon today, amid growing pressure from its allies to de-escalate, claiming that it had thwarted a Hezbollah plot to carry out an attack similar to October 7. Hezbollah has not commented.

“Earlier post said one top commander is at large.”
Yes, he’s covering a large area, he’s even up in the trees!
I’m just guessing they are conflicted. They mostly don’t like Hezbullah but Hezbullah are strong and Iranian money props up the economy. You can’t, as a citizen, really object when Hezbullah tells you your apartment will be used to store weapons of war. Plus they pay for the room. So it helps, even though they know it’s dangerous, but objection could mean death, exile, ostracism. So they know it’s not a good situation there has just been no alternatives. Iran stepped into the power vacuum of a government that has been weakened by decades of war going back to 1973 and now are powerless against the strength of Hezbullah and Iran. If Hezbullah get decimated and Iran prevented from rearming and rebuilding, plus some serious Western effort, maybe the People can take charge of their country again. It is, actually, a constitutional democracy at least on paper.
Just my guess. And fwiw the Lebanese government does object but it’s sort of tepid and they don’t have much credibility outside of Lebanon. It’s practically a failed state.
IDF keep on keeping on.
Technically Nasrallah is a trans now, from life to death. That might entice the “ladies” to embrace him....so to speak
And all this time I thought Beirut was a Baseball Player, Badabooom.
A lot of the mid level guys got it last week.
It really is a breathtaking example of decapitating an organization’s leadership
The IDF must have moles and assets every where
Damn Abdullah, everything is going BOO...!!!
5.56mm
Israel is taking out the trash.
Gosh, I can’t see the trampoline!
Those Baby Zoomers were radicalized on the internet, and they only read their favorite parts.
>> So what I don’t understand is why does Lebanon not complain when their civilians also get killed?
Complain to whom, exactly?
Hezbollah IS Lebanon. Lebanon has no government worthy of the name except Hezbollah.
Do you remember when the Antifa/BLM gang vermin took over that neigborhood in Seattle? Okay, substitute “country of Lebanon” for “that neighborhood in Seattle”. That’s what it is.
“So what I don’t understand is why does Lebanon not complain when their civilians also get killed?”
for all practical purposes, Lebanon is a failed country: neither their government nor their military have the ability to kick hezbollah out of their country ... essentially, hezbollah is a cancer that metastasized to infiltrate all parts of the lebanese infrastructure ...
now that hezbollah is on the verge of being destroyed, iran has announced that they’re sending their own troops into lebanon [since their proxies have been destroyed and are no longer capable of controlling lebanon, IOW, iran has abandoned the fiction that they’re not in control of lebanon]
Nasrallah means “severed foreskin” in Hebrew.
For those who do not want to forget, Lebanon had its terrorists under control - until Hillary Clinton had Muammar Gaddafi assassinated.
Long-range rockets have been launched from Lebanon toward the Jerusalem area.
Sirens are sounding in several West Bank settlements, east of the capital.
It marks the deepest rocket fire carried out by Hezbollah amid the ongoing fighting, with sirens sounding in towns some 140 kilometers from the Lebanon border.
The IDF says it will provide further details soon.
When this all began, recall, Israel sent a message to evacuate the area.
It reminds me of what my dad told me about his time in France WWII, when I asked if he met civilians.
He said, ‘We had strict orders to stay away from ‘civilians’ because by the time we got there ... no honest civilians remained. Anyone still around was up to no good.’
That is one pretty picture above!!!!
Another chubby, squishy, short needle dick dead guy.
Liberal white women world wide lament the loss of a potential son in law and partner for their obese transitioning boys.
That kind of a headline for the head of a terrorist organization.
