He’s probably fine. A bit soggy and I’m sure there was some wind. Unless he’s in the northern part. It’s pretty bad up there right now because the eye of the storm is so close to land. I’m watching some storm chasers who are about to be in the eyewall in the Big Bend area. Guys after my own heart - - they’re standing outside in the wind and rain. That’s where I’d be if I was there! LOL

It’s bad though. It’s going to be ugly in tomorrow’s daylight. :-(

It shouldn’t be TOO bad here but it doesn’t take much wind to knock stuff out of the trees here these days. They’re half-dead from thirst and very weak. I pick up small tree trash all the time and that’s without any wind.
I’ve prepared as best I can and now I just wait and hope for the best.

We aren’t expecting super-high winds here but could have some hefty gusts. The storm will run out of most of its steam by the time it gets here.
Uprooted trees aren’t that much of a concern. Downed limbs are.

I don’t have all that much to batten down, and I do it any time strong storms are expected. I don’t like having to run around to gather stuff up. LOL

Sounds like you’ve got it all covered, though. I haven’t had a chance to watch much of the footage, and it ticks me off that all the wild stuff happens at night when you can barely see anything! LOL!

Good evening, radu...way behind, but following the hurricane thread. Reported rain in Kentucky. Has it already found you? Hoping it is not so heavy that it can’t soak in and not just run off.

I watched Ryan Hall for a little while but so many were watching, it just wasn’t behaving for me. So I pulled up Timmer and he has about a third of the viewers, and the stream runs smoothly. Two streams showing - him and a buddy on one and some young guys on another. They’re all in Perry and the eyewall just roared through. Now they’re in the eye.
All of them kept getting out of the vehicles to run around in the wind.
It might be night time but I can see plenty on the streams. There’s going to be a heck of a mess to clean up. :-(

Hey there, Kathy.

I’ve checked the hurricane thread periodically but have been primarily watching storm chasers in Perry, FL tonight. Direct hit there several minutes ago and now the eye is over the area. The backside is coming though.

There’s rain all the way up into OH, IN, and IL. There’s been some light rain here this evening but the bulk has stayed east of here. It’s starting to move west at last so heavier rain is in store overnight into tomorrow.

Now that the storm has made landfall, it’ll be interesting to see how fast it loses steam. It sure kicked up fast today!

I'm watching Mark Sudduth in his car close to Madison, FL. He was going to get off the highway, but too many large branches in the road. He's in the eye right now. It looks like things are about to ramp up again.

I’m still “riding” with Timmer and the other team on his stream. They’ve had problems here and there navigating downed tree limbs on the highway too. Winds are starting to pick up again as the backside of the eyewall moves in.

I just feel so bad for the folks down there and the clean-up that lies ahead.

Yeah, it’s hard to tell in the dark, but I think the damage is going to be awful.

I “rode” with Timmer for a while, but sometimes those guys get wild and at this time of the night, I like Mark’s simple dialog and he has an excellent camera. Right now as he’s stopped on the side of the road, It’s pretty quiet. I’m pretty sure this isn’t over yet, though. It sure seems to be moving inland quickly. Hope it misses you.

Anyway.....that’s my story an’ I’m stickin’ with it. LOL!

Enough could be seen in the headlights to know a lot of damage was done.

Yeah, Timmer and the other team of young guys did get pretty wild, standing out in the wind and rain while in the eyewall.

It’s coming up here but it won’t be a hurricane. It’ll just be a big wet storm with some wind. It’s already losing steam now that it’s over land. Just heard the winds are 110 mph when they were 140 at landfall.

LOL! Losing steam with 110 mph winds. That’s crazy. What is that, still a Cat2? I never can keep up with the wind speed.

All this driving down highways is making me sleepy. LOL!

Still a nasty Cat 2 storm but that’s a 30 mph loss in a short time. Take it where you can get it.
I hope my friends in Americus, GA are awake because it’s going to pass by very close.

Though still a lot, not as many watching Ryan’s stream now so it’s behaving on my computer. I’m back to watching him now. I get more information from him.

I just hope things in the path aren’t as bad as it sounds like they might be.
