In the closely-watched campaign for U.S. Senator in Ohio, one pollster just found Republican challenger Bernie Moreno up two points over incumbent Democrat Sherrod Brown, 48 to 46 percent.
This poll, conducted by Scott Rasmussen on behalf of Napolitan News Service, surveyed 781 likely voters between September 18-20.
Democrats currently hold control over the U.S. Senate with 51 seats. As of today, it looks as though the Republican Party will win control in 2025. Two seats held by Democrats in the red states of Montana and West Virginia are likely turnovers, which will give the GOP a slim majority of 51 seats.

They’ve been running some hard-core mud-slinging ads about Moreno in Ohio.
Not just the regular bad-policy, bad history, or even the implied ‘this guy is dumb’ kind of ads. They make him out to be a white collar criminal and a cheater and thief against people he employed.
If the polls are true, then it means the dirty stuff isn’t working.
Sherrod is a brown stain on the US Senate.
We need more than 51 seats because two of those will be held by Murkowski and Collins. To get the minimum 50 votes we need at least 52 seats.
I don’t know of any other Republican Senators who can’t wait to torpedo whatever Trump would want to do, but for all we know there’s one or two more lurking beneath the surface. So 52 seats may not be enough in every case, but it’s the bare minimum.

If Hogan wins, he’ll be just as bad as Murkowski and Collins.
It would be great to see Socialist Sherrod defeated.
True. I should say “To get the minimum 50 votes we need at least 52 seats, or 53 if Hogan is in there”.
All i see is sherrod brown-stain ads. Like you said, hitting him as a terrible boss and a man who wants to put women in a cage.
the ads and the actors in them are junior high-esque.
Ted Cruz is in trouble here in Texas, supposedly the polls indicate the race is tied.
Hopefully those are the usual Dem favoring polls. I think I may send his campaign some money.

So far, not many of the “Moreno has no chance” naysayers have appeared on this thread. Guess I should give it more time.
They’re also throwing abortion to the campaign of mud.
Ohio has pretty good voter security measures, photo ID, and paper ballots (which are fed into a scanner). I’ve lived here three years now and feel good about most aspects of the voting apparatus here. The problem is that our GOP Secretary of State Frank LaRose admitted that there are something like 260,000 non-citizens on the voter rolls.
Trump is up something like 10 points in one poll; he won Ohio by 500,000 votes in 2020. There is a good chance he will drag Bernie over the finish line. I am holding out hope that we finally beat Marcy Kaptur after 21 horrific terms, and also knock out first term DEI congresswoman Emilia Sykes, whose district is the Akron area but who lives in Columbus.
Too close for comfort especially here in Texas
