Former Republican National Committee Chair Michael Steele, now a frequent critic of the party, said Sunday he thinks Vice President Harris will win the general election, flipping North Carolina and Florida in the process.
“This coalition that’s being created right now by Kamala Harris and Tim Walz is not just one to watch, but it’s going to be one that the history books will study, when, I think, she takes this thing to victory,” Steele said in an interview on MSNBC’s “The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart.”
“Florida and North Carolina will fall, along with Georgia,” Steele continued.
Steele agreed with author and podcast host Steve Phillips, who said Florida and North Carolina “are now in play” for Harris, pointing to an increase in enthusiasm and in support from Black voters in key swing states.
Phillips said in a recent piece discussed in the MSNBC interview that “nearly every state Barack Obama won in 2012 is within reach and winnable by Harris.”

Has Steele been right about ANYTHING in the last eight years?
Goodness, he is awful.
What a disappointment.
Could he be any more of a phony Republican leader?
Give him the hook! Get him off the stage.
Could one wimpy assed Republican Congress phony baloney grifter renounce him?
Mike Johnson, cotton, Gaetz, green?
He knows which side the butter is on.
Steele has been wrong so many times who cares what he says.
True. Was Steele ever a Republican?
Steele has been wrong so many times who cares what he says.
Trump has destroyed the Republican party. The only chance for it to come back is for Trump to not only lose, but be blown out or destroyed so badly he can never come back.
Hell they used to toe suck Steele here
If it’s black and moves and isn’t too offensive
It gets some love here
It’s scary how corrupt our party became against our own members. Dems managed to infiltrate into our leadership with Steele, Cheney, Christie, etc. We need some sort of internal affairs apparatus that identifies and purges these types from the party.
I’d like to know what he’s looking at to make that claim. I suspect he’s just leading the audience or wishing it to be true.
Well - Steele works for that network so - what the gonna say?
“Donald,we’re bigger than Michael Steele!”
Trump has destroyed the Republican party.
It needed destroying.
Steele has a steel brain. Steel is not brain material.
Steel has never done any real thinking. Steel is deranged and delusional.
Might as well have said that heaven will flip into becoming hell.
Actors are paid to repeat what somebody tells (pays) them to say. They’re not there to question the truthfulness of what they are saying — or even understand it. There are a lot of starving writers, artists, musicians in the world — for every one that manages to make a good and decent living. Other “professionals” are the same way — lawyers, non-government organization (NGOs) CEOs who fund raise to largely pay their own salaries under the guise of some noble cause, etc.
They justify it by saying that everybody else does it so why not them? That’s what they believe “democracy” is — that they go along to get along, and the more people they can get to chant the same things, that’s what makes it true. However, the problem with Kamala, just as with Joe, and now Tim, is that they have a problem drawing a crowd — and so they just hide in their basements (out of sight), raise a lot of money, and pay off the media and other intermediaries, to vouch for their qualifications — even if it means betraying their neighbors and fellow citizens.
Some places are more “progressive” in this — like Oakland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, Washington DC, Honolulu, etc., so we can see what that future looks like. But it is not too late for the rest of us — but we have to save ourselves by thinking for ourselves — instead of being deceived and manipulated by the mass media being paid quite handsomely to do so.
Flipping Florida? Is it any wonder why the GOP won nothing with him in charge?
You’re on the wrong forum. DU is your place.
