Islam started in the 700’s AD, Jerusalem was founded 1000ish BC by the Jews.

I am aware that Jerusalem was already an old city by the time the Muslims got there. But the Dome of the rock is still the oldest mosque in the world.
Axios now reporting on X that up to 20 commanders were hit in this strike, or “all the senior commanders” as it was reported. I think they were quoting Israel sources. Other reports say 10 commanders. Must’ve been a high level, critical meeting for them all to gather like that (but of course, their coms are out of commission).
Unfortunately it appears the meeting was in an apartment building. Jet apparently shot two missiles into the apartment. Didn’t destroy the building but took out several units. Clearly Israel still has human intelligence on the ground to alert them and target the location. But Israel’s critics are calling them out for targeting a civilian building (even though it was being used by terrorists plotting war against Israel - they shouldn’t use civilian infrastructure for war purposes).
Actually there was an error in translation.....it is not 72 virgins but 72 Virginians all wearing steel toed boots to stomp the $hit out of them.

The present Quba mosque in Medina only dates to the 1980s. Grand mosque in Mecca is pre-Islamic, it is an earlier pagan site converted for use as a mosque. The Dome of the Rock was purpose built as an Islamic mosque and has remained more or less intact - making it the oldest mosque in the world.
The connection of Jerusalem with Islam is Muhammad (claimed he) had a dream of going there (from Arabia) on a flying horse.
Seriously, that is the origin of the Muslim claim.
