In Norway, EVs now outnumber gas-powered vehicles

In Norway, electric vehicles (EVs) now outnumber gas-powered vehicles, according to latest vehicle registration data from the Norwegian Road Federation released on Tuesday.

Norway, a major oil exporter globally, now has 754,303 registered EVs, slightly more than 753,905 of gas vehicles. The Scandinavian country has 2.8 million registered passenger cars, including diesel vehicles.

The director of the Norwegian Road Federation, known as OFV, Oyvind Solberg Thorsen, called the milestone “historic” and said the ongoing electrification of cars is at a “high pace” and the country is closer to becoming the first in the world to have the majority of cars be EVs.

The sales of EVs in the country of 5.5 million people have been accelerated with government incentives and tax breaks. The tax incentives are mostly from the money the country makes exporting oil and gas. It is also one of the wealthiest nations and among the top oil and gas producers in Western Europe.

Where the average driving is 8 miles a day, and a road trip is about 60 miles.

The people who wrote this article are so four months ago. Either they have had their heads buried in the sand or they are stupid or are completely brainwashed.

The direction of EV has changed dramatically in the past couple of months.

Norway is energy rich, plus generous tax incentives to make it easy to go electric. Small country so no need for long range driving, with plenty of hydro electricity to go around, so no fear of shortages or grid outages. Probably the most ideal country for EV use.

Might as well have gotten bicycles instead, since people there don’t go too far from their homes, for work or anything.

Doesn’t the majority of Norway’s population live in the Oslo area?

Of course EVs are probably more viable there, as there’s no need for long trips by car.

Norway is 3.29% of the size of the USA. Very few “trips”.

With 2.5 million people, Brooklyn is the largest of New York City’s five boroughs.

Remove every person currently living in Brooklyn, and NYC still as more people than all of Norway.

Did Norwegians drive their EVs into the sea in the last couple months? What is incorrect in the article? Can you enlighten me?

Norway produces 88% of their electricity with cheap hydropower. 10% is wind. They are well suited for electrification of everything except for heat in the dead of winter (they kept their wood stoves).

Only thing they need is a tiny wood stove in each electric vehicle.
