CHICAGO (CBS) -- Next week marks one year since Illinois outlawed cash bail, and advocates and critics of the change have been waiting patiently to see it if has been successful — or as some predicted, a disaster.
A panel of stakeholders, including Cook County Chief Public Defender Sharone R. Mitchell Jr., spoke Wednesday about the largely positive outcomes of ending cash bail.
"There were a lot of predictions about things that did not happen," said Mitchell.

War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.
Funny, it has resulted in more crime everywhere else. Maybe Chicago is already reaching 100% lawless, so any small increase goes unnoticed?
This is government bureaucrats spewing this crap. I don’t believe them. No credibility.
In other news, 31 people were shot in Chicago over the Labor Day weekend.
When I see child molesters and murderers with no bail, or $ above 100,000 to a couple of million, I’m pretty confident they aren’t out there on the streets repeating the crimes.
Report the local thug for assault. Get him arrested. The next day when he gets out, he’s pissed and comes and beats the snot out of you. Something tells me he’s not going to be reported again.

Recent illegal immigrant criminal class is finding a target-rich environment, and a much less punitive justice system, that allows them release on their own recognizance, thus allowing them to stay in business, while avoiding their return court dates…
In their home countries, there would never have been such freedom and business opportunity, with such an uncontrolled environment.
These conditions have been exploited for decades by the criminal class, but are being discovered by new players.
Land of opportunity!
In Chicago, nearly 20% of felony arrests are people already on pretrial release for other cases
There's a very good reason why so many cop shops have stopped reporting data to the FBI.
It’s not crime it’s just mutual combat as the DA of Chicago called it when she refused to prosecute anyone involved in a broad daylight shootout.
CBS aka Continuous Bull Shit
Crime stats are lies. Governments always say crime is down no matter if it’s soaring.
